GUJRANWALA: Security in-charge Captain (R) Mehtab Alam was removed from his post after unidentified intruders destroyed the record of oil purchases and multi-million rupees’ worth of payments in the security office of Nandipur power project in Gujranwala in mysterious circumstances on Thursday night.
The incident took place at midnight at the office of the Assistant Director (Security) Captain (R) Mehtab Alam in the admin building of the project, sources said. Mehtab Alam has been replaced by Captain (R) Aftab.
A four-member investigative team has reached Nandipur to look into the incident, sources said. The team is reportedly made up of senior officers who have been working on the Muzaffargarh power project.
A case has been registered against ‘unknown persons’ regarding the incident.
The incident, when it came into the officials' knowledge next morning, caused panic among the staff of the power project which was deemed as secured. Officials of intelligence agencies, Rangers, police and Elite Force are posted at the project to ensure foolproof security. It is considered impossible for a layman to trespass such high-level security. Even VIPs have restricted access to certain portions of the project.
Yet despite the stringent security measures, some unidentified persons reportedly entered the office of Assistant Director Security Captain (R) Mehtab Alam at around 3:30 am and tore apart papers from important files and destroyed the records, the sources said.
The project administration immediately informed the district administration and police authorities about the incident. Police have initiated an inquiry into the incident.
Officials of the forensic lab of the district police reached the project site with their equipment. The officials collected fingerprints and other samples from the crime scene. The officials, while avoiding to speculate on the incident, have said that the culprits would not escape from the grip of the law.

Corruption at its peak. Looks like PML-N destroyed the files before the records could be found for their corruption, just like Metro Bus Files and LDA Files were conveniently burned during a fire. What a Shame
