WASHINGTON — Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, resigned on Friday morning, telling President Trump he vehemently disagreed with the appointment of New York financier Anthony Scaramucci as communications director.

Mr. Trump offered Mr. Scaramucci the job at 10 a.m. The president requested that Mr. Spicer stay on, but Mr. Spicer told Mr. Trump that he believed the appointment was a major mistake, according to person with direct knowledge of the exchange.

Can't blame him.

He already embarrassed himself enough, and having to defend Trump's lies everyday would wear on anyone.

At least we got some great comedy out of it. Melissa McCartheys Spicer skit was an all-timer.

Too bad. This nutter was doing a hellavu job by making America great again.

There's nothing in the Constitution that says a president has to cater to press he doesn't like. And this president doesn't owe the mainstream media anything. Perhaps Trump has realized that this means he doesn't need a press secretary - not right now, anyway.

Well isnt there a lady by name Sarah who also handles the press meets?
But anyway press briefings were getting more confrontational rather than being informative.

Great democratic tradition you got going there... I wonder, do you really have to owe the media something for having a press secretary?

LOL it is not only the press which the president doesn't like. Where do I even begin?

The mainstream media and the unaccountable "Deep State" together have formed a kind of "Fourth Estate" that is currently attempting to stifle constructive political debate and hinder the work of democratic government. I see no reason to encourage them.

I'm guessing he does think he needs one, or he wouldn't have just promoted Sarah Huckabee Sanders to be the new WH press secretary.

Perhaps an excuse by Spicer to quit as he has run out of ideas for supporting Trump...

His worst moment IMO was the Assad/Hitler comparison with gassing people. That was right up there with Trump thinking Andrew Jackson was alive during the Civil War, and claiming the plantation owner who owned more than 150 slaves would've ended the war without any bloodshed. I still can't get over that one! The epic level of ignorance is mind-blowing. The real problem is we've almost come immune to the shock-factor.

I was thinking the same thing. I will miss the SNL sketches. :D

As long as Alec Baldwin stays in character, lol. They might have to make Melissa McCarthy's take over the Sarah Huckabee Sanders character.
