Brother I agree with your point about starting the journey. However, the American influence over the house of Saud is such that, I seriously doubt they will be able to progress in this field. The other problem is procuring the infrastructure to start the research. Y ou will agree that the world is a much more closely guarded place post 9/11. I think, procuring the materials / cerntrifuges would be very difficult in todays atmosphere. What is happening in Iran, and Korea is due to their "imports" 10 yrs or so ago.

Sir this news has popped up after 27 years too late, It was not Pakistan but China.I cannot go into details Tho I know very little about it what I knew is the above info.
