Saudi religious police hunt down Twitter ‘witchcraft’ accounts — RT News

False and nonsense title obviously.

I do agree with this though!

Al Arabiya quoted Saudi Arabia’s Mufti, the country’s leading Islamic cleric, as saying that social media networks like Twitter have become a “podium for spreading evil and bad ideas and exchanging accusations and lies” by many of their subscribers.

“Many Twitter users in the kingdom are also fools who lack modesty and faith,” he said.

Only because I am not on Twitter but only on Facebook and Yahoo email.

Oh no no - trust me bro. There were these Arab students who came to college in Ferraris! Call them anything. But not poor. :D

Yeah, right. A tiny minority do that.

I couldn't help myself

LOL.

I bet that many of those 70-80 year old clerics do not know what Twitter is. Saudi Arabia has more Twitter users than any country compared to per capita average. People love social media. They are going to fail.

They can't prevent people from using social media nor is that what they're trying to do.

However, they and the people themselves should promote good things and remembrance of God rather than just socializing time.

Facebook is hugely popular too. I think it is safe to say that this is going nowhere.

What the talk is about is indecent talks and the usual nonsense that teenagers do. We all know what is going on anyway. Just need to visit any Arab chat room.

Changes are inevitable. Some of the old clerics aged 70-80 year old do not know what Twitter is. With all due respect to the Grand Mufti who is blind, then I do not know how he is informed about this? Probably advisers who are saying such things as it suits them and their position.

It's really pathetic. You cannot force people here in life. KSA has one of the youngest populations in the world. The country is safe, the economy is good, most youth can afford the newest computers, computer games, smartphones, laptops and other devices that shape our lives today and they want to restrict it?

That's not the way forward. Instead they should have URGED the youth to use social media wisely and in a constructive way that do not go against Islam or the traditions.

Now when the average redneck across the world hears about this news he probably thinks that only men use computers in KSA and other nonsense. Thanks to such comments and others. It is extremely bad publicity that do not show the real reality. They are shooting themselves in their foot.

Even the title!:crazy::tdown:
