Saudi Royal, Four Others Detained in Beirut Captagon Bust

A member of the Saudi royal family and four others were detained after authorities discovered two tons of drugs on a private jet in Beirut on Monday, according to Lebanon's state-run news agency and a government official.

The National News Agency said smugglers were attempting to transport the "huge quantity" of Captagon pills — 40 bags worth — to the Saudi capital of Riyadh.

Monday's bust was the largest-ever smuggling operation uncovered at Beirut's Rafik Hariri International Airport, according to the news agency.

It said the five Saudi nationals held were being questioned.

Col. Joseph Musalem, a spokesman for Lebanon's ministry of the interior, said that a member of the Saudi royal family was among those detained. Musalem added that investigators were working to determine whether or not he was involved in the alleged smuggling.

Saudi Arabia's ministry of foreign affairs declined to comment.

Captagon was originally the trade name for a pharmaceutical preparation containing fenetylline — a synthetic stimulant, according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. The U.N. agency said that most Captagon tablets seized in recent years essentially contained amphetamine.

. . . .
First of all the 4 "others" were apparently not brothers but friends. Secondly the private plane was bound for Ha'il and not Riyadh.

Thirdly the Hariri Airport is controlled by Hezbollah. No need to say more. Fourthly only complete and utter idiots would risk doing such a thing let alone a prince that could easily have others do this for him without his involvement being directly known.

Fifthly Captagon is the most popular drug of this type in the Arab world. It's used by ordinary civilians.

Sixtly ISIS produces this drug on their own. It's fairly easy to produce. Source myself (I am a chemical engineer).

The supposed "ISIS connection" is where you lost me and hence why I reacted. If this story is genuine he should be punished heavily. Preferably receive the death penalty. Whether this happens, I have my doubts about.

I think you are incorrect on your third point. The ISIS link is a stretch but so is your Hezbollah link.

Why would the Beirut airport be controlled by Hezbollah?

Does anyone know how much that is! :o:

Its enough to kill a herd of elephants!

I don't think it's intended for getting elephants high, so don't worry.

. .
Forget high....It probably would kill the beast! It was a point of measurement!

Well, Elephants are bad comparison. When was the last time you saw elephants snorting cocaine? I rest my case.
