Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir says ties with Israel will normalize after peace process underway
Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir said Thursday that the Gulf State will have normalized relations with Israel, once a peace process begins to take shape.
"We have no relations with Israel, we have a road map for relations with Israel called the Arab peace initiative," al-Jubeir said in an interview with FRANCE 24. "If we have a peace process and a peace settlement, we will have normal relations with all Arab countries and all Islamic countries, and normal relations means diplomatic relations, commercial relations and trade relations."
The foreign minister asserted that Saudi Arabia remains committed to a two-state solution and dismissed claims that the Gulf state may be acting in Israel's favor. .
"Our position on Jerusalem has always been clear, we believe in a two-state solution based on the relevant UN resolutions and the Arab peace initiative, we believe that in the end we will have the Palestinian state on the 67 borders, with minor mutually agreed to adjustments as determined by the two parties with East Jerusalem as its capital, this has been our position, this remains our position, any talk to the contrary is nonsense," Al-Jubeir insisted.
"We believe that the Trump administration is serious about bringing peace between Israelis and Arabs," Al Jubeir added and insisted that Saudi policy has consistently been to support Palestinians and "not to dictate to them."
