The Saudi prince and tycoon, al-Waleed bin Talal, who is the nephew of current Saudi King Abdullah, stated during an interview on CNN that Saudi Arabia's funding of militant groups in Syria that were trying to topple the Syrian government led to the rise of the Islamic State (IS, aka ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group. He added that "extremists" in Saudi Arabia were funding ISIL and that the kingdom has now "stopped" this completely.
