Precisely, my friend. I had the pleasure of visiting Dubai several years ago, and I kid you not most of the people there were South Asians: Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis. Here and there you'd find an Arab, but majority were South Asians. I hope foreign workers are treated with decency and given access to consular and legal aid when necessary.

This is why our government should stop sending OFWs to other nations, no exceptions. And at the same time, do an overhaul of the economic system to prevent relying on OFWs.

The Philippines is known for hard working, and very educated people. In Japan we have a very large presence of Filipino workers in various fields; nursing, physical therapy, home care, teaching, engineering, agriculture. So long as the Philippines is willing to send its hard working and educated work force to Japan, I'm sure we will prefer Filipinos over other nationals.

In Singapore, I see many single expatriate holding hands with a village-looking pinoy/Indonesian...etc, obviously, the lady first came here as domestic worker.

'Village looking' is a very disconcerting and racist descriptive, @Lux de Veritas . Not all Indonesians and Filipinos are domestic worker and you tend to use that term liberally with a negative context, by the way. Many of those Filipino and Indonesian professionals are actually very hard working with high ethic. Can you be more respectful and less egregious in your manner of speech.

It seems so easy to screw domestic workers.

This is utterly disgusting. I hope she receives the proper consular and legal aid and repatriated back to the Philippines. This is a lesson for all would be foreign domestic workers to examine the employers' background and to secure work form a credible work agency.

The problem is that consulates and embassies of poor countries don't really help their citizens.

The only three countries who have raised their voice recently are Sri Lanka, India and Indonesia, simply because these 3 are now economically more powerful and are getting better. Other countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh cannot say anything because of religious sentimental respect for Arabs or that their embassies don't really help them much.

This is contrary to US, Israeli, European or Russian embassies who would save their citizen even if he or she has committed a genuine murder.

All Malaysian I meet as well as Singaporean call Indonesian as indon..
