Saudi-backed Bahraini forces attack protesters in Manama

Saudi-backed Bahraini forces have attacked anti-regime protesters in the Capital city Manama, using tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse them.

Bahrainis hold almost daily anti-regime rallies to demand the release of political prisoners and an end to rights violations by Manama.

Bahrain’s revolution began in mid-February 2011, when the people, inspired by the popular revolutions that toppled the dictators of Tunisia and Egypt, started holding massive demonstrations.

The Bahraini government promptly launched a brutal crackdown on the peaceful protests and called in Saudi-led Arab forces from neighboring Persian Gulf states to help crack down on the demonstrations.

In Bahrain, many have died after regime forces fired poisonous tear gas into their homes to crush anti-regime protests.

A report published by the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry in November 2011 found that the Al Khalifa regime had used 'excessive force' in the campaign of suppression and accused Manama of torturing political activists, politicians, and protesters.

Bahrainis hold King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa responsible for the death and arrest of protesters. They have vowed to continue their protests rallies until their demands for an elected government and an end to rights violations are met.
