Saudi Arabian looted in Mumbai; gang targeted 44 Arabs

You did not get the point. The average Arab would obviously stick out in Southern India. I don't even know why this is necessary to point out. Even more so if that person is a tourist.

Simiarily in Pakistan and it has nothing to do with skin color but facial features, you being an apparent tourist etc.

Do you think that I would blend in, in say Peshawar as a tourist visiting for the first time? Would a Pakistani blend in, in some village in Southern KSA? You already have your answer and the answer is no in both places.
People from any other part of India other than South India (this includes me) - Will Stick out !! so you are pretty much not alone

.
Chinese like to make wild claims and I like to remind them of otherwise. If you read my history, it does matter to me on which thread. But you can continue being more chinese than the chinese ;)

You're showing the one-eye! You must be working for one-eyed liar!

People here don't care if you're Arab. We've had many Arabs living here, it was ghair Musharaf who scared them off because of Amrikan doing This is not a kafir country that you need to blend in. No one cares, they got their own problems. Even non-Muslims go to Gilgit and rock-climbing and no one bothers them. Yes, if you go looking for trouble you'll find it.

.
I also thought about visiting Sri Lanka or Maldives if Southern India was to be unsafe. However without knowing it I suspect Maldives to be a resort-type of holiday. Beach all day long, diving etc. Not my type of thing for more than 1 week time. 10 days max.
Sri Lanka looks interesting but it appears to me that South India is a many times bigger version of Sri Lanka and it is probably also cheaper.

Are there any Sri Lankan users here on PDF? Or a South Indian who works in the local tourism sector or has knowledge about it? I would like to contact such a person.
Ask the mods?

The point here is that you can easily spot a tourist, no matter where he is from, in areas that are not exposed to much tourism. For instance European tourists can easily be spotted by native Parisians.
The average Arab would obviously also look apart (non-native) in almost all parts of India (especially Southern India), Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and many parts of Pakistan. The average Arab and Middle Eastern person also has different facial features than the average South Asian. Skin color is secondary here although the average Arab is lighter skinned than the average South Asian although there is not much of a difference. Same goes with Latinos. We tend to look similar although I can easily tell us all apart.

As for tourists visiting Pakistan, those are rare in general (regardless where they are traveling from), and most Arab states advice people not to travel to Pakistan due to the security situation and because a few governments have had problems with Arabs traveling to Pakistan in order to go to Afghanistan to fight. This is almost never happening today but during the Afghan-Soviet War for instance and until 9/11 and a few years after that, it was more common. Although we are not talking about more than a few thousand people at most out of a population of 450 million.

Anyway I saw a documentary recently of that Brit (Levinson or something along those lines) walking across the Himalayas and he visited Gilgat and crossed into Kashmir. Here it was told that not even Pakistanis from other regions visit certain regions in Gilgat due to Taliban having roomed there (some 11 mountaineers were beheaded by Taliban apparently) and general uncertainty. There was an empty hotel waiting for tourists but nobody visited, not even locals. It was a BBC documentary.

Anyway I love that type of travel. He visited average people. Some nomads in the mountains in Kashmir (don't remember their name) etc. Those are unique travels. Not sitting in some resort for 2 weeks. Anyway each to his own. You feel me here?

Anyway it was not my intention or wish to turn this into a Pakistani-Indian pissing contest, lol. You guys did that yourself. I was solely interested in asking a few questions here.

Ask the mods?

How should they know about whether there is an local South Indian here who works in the tourism sector or knows people who do or has experience with that field of work?:lol:o_O:o::cheers:

Good job. People preying on tourists(both local and foreign) spoils the country's image. I really hate these kinda people.

@Sargon of Akkad do not engage in any conversation with any non Indian who has not travel to India.. you will end up horribly confused.. there are a few pakistani like @Spring Onion and bangladeshi like @BDforever who have actually been to India... ask their opinion... others are just trolls... you are actually planning travel, so its good that you are doing research.
do you have any arab friend who have travelled?, their opinion is worth a lot... also here is a website frequented by foreigners.

do u have any idea about how many indians are in Pakistani jail?so according to you logic pakistan could be a sadistic country to put indians in jail??
do u know that indian have more than 24 million Muslim in india, and you think that in india they are being torture!!!?? you pakistanis have no idea about indian and you are trying to talk like an expert on the "problems in india".
just keep your imagination within you, no need to say it in here.. .. indians are doing more good things to pakistanis even when pakistan is supporting terrorism in india.
look at your own country, how many people are looted in your nation?? how many tourists are killed pakistan?

I know how many sadist agents are in Pakistani jails but you don't know about the number of indians and other tourists praise Pakistani hospitality, do you?

rss and other sadists are having a hard time torturing muslims in india but they are not giving up :enjoy:

My countrymen can handle constructive criticism but yours can't and Please save you breath, Pakistan doesn't have to support any kind of terror activities in india there are way too many insurgencies in india,If we did support them all we would be bankrupt by now

Is it safe for Arab/ME tourists to visit India? Will people attack you because you are an Arab and Muslim?

What are you talking ? I stayed at Marriot Kochi for 2 days during July end. The whole place was full of Arabs with their famileis after the Ramzan season.

I am simply asking as I have not visited India yet despite it being located fairly close to Arabia and despite our region of the world hosting the largest Indian diaspora in the world. I have several Indian and South Asian friends. I know people who have gone to India and they have not faced any problems but they visited resorts. They did not really venture on their own without tourist guides etc.

Let us say that I wanted to visit South India, for instance Kerala, would I be looked at as a potential target for gangs trying to rob me or some anti-Muslims if they could spot that I was an Arab?

Or will locals welcome you? My experience is that normal Indians are welcoming people but I do not know anything about the crime rate in India.

I have nothing against staying at some fancy resort (have done so many times across the world) but I prefer to visit the common man and woman and explore countries on my own.

I am not trolling here.

Try and see. you will love. folks are all the same everywhere. violence is kerala is the lowest compared to anywhere in teh world. Take the train, travel as normal folks do, you will love it. Konkan railway is good. That is what I like to do.

I am mostly interested in visiting Southern India which I have heard is more developed and less prone to crime.

The question here is, how prevalent is it?

I am mostly interested in knowing about tourism in India, mainly Southern India, in regards to the questions that I have asked so far.

I know that many of you want to turn this into a Pakistan-India thing but I am not part of this battle currently, dear.

Yes sticking to south India is good. Try to travel during December to Jan (or June to Aug). weather better.
A good itinerary trip should include (1) Varkala, Kerala, (2) Tiger reserves of Masinagudi, elephant rides (3) in Tamil Nadu visit Tanjore Big temple, (4) In Karanataka , Belur Halibedu. if you like traveling single, back packing use the cheap train service. I do that with my friends when I go on vacation.
South India is safe, do something adventurous, life is short.

That is encouraging to hear.
Hyderabad (visiting the Yemeni quarter and the Nizams (his family apparently has paternal Arab ancestry), the earliest mosques build outside of the Arabian Peninsula (located in Southern India), Kerala, Goa and other interesting historical sites.

I

Hyderabad is no good. Try to avoid. you should not miss Tanjore big temple.

Maybe India needs a government surveillance system similar to that in the US, so no buddy can get away from any crime.
I think most of Saudis who travel to India like to go to Kerala, Bombay has a history of many dangerous incidents.
Anyway, I've just seen this Video for a Saudi traveler went to North Korea and filmed his journey there. Is there Arab community or Indian community in NK? or it is just allowed for citizens to work and live there?

I am able to distinguish between trolling and genuine information. Trust me. I am an fairly experienced traveller however I have zero experience when it comes to travel in South Asia.

As written earlier, I know several people who have visited India. However I do not know anyone who has travelled in India without a guide and without staying at a resort. My "perfect" trip, as written earlier, would be a combination of staying at some resort for 1 week (10 days max) and spending the remaining 2 weeks on travel inside India. The kind of travel where you are more independent and thus not dependent on tourist groups or guides. That kind of travel where you have a bigger chance of encountering locals and maybe staying at their place for some hours or a night. You know a more authentic type of travel. I do know that Southern India is nowhere (probably) as developed as say France when it comes to having a widespread tourism sector (cities and countryside included) and infrastructure overall. However that won't be a problem for me as long as the alternatives are acceptable and not too dangerous/risky. I am not going to risk my life/health/wealth/safety of family/friends in other words.

If I stayed in some resort in Kerala or Goa throughout those 3 weeks or so I would not be able to see all the things that I would like to see. Similarly with tour guides. They usually only take you to specific locations and you are not really allowed to venture out on your own or in smaller groups. You have a limited time schedule to follow as well so even if you could it would all be very quick.

Well, I am sure that South India is a lot safer than those countries but since I only know what I have been told by others (Indians as Arabs) and I am yet to visit, I wanted to hear from natives and maybe, just maybe, there would be an Indian here who could answer my questions or better, someone who works in the tourism sector in Southern India or knows somebody who does.

What are you talking ? I stayed at Marriot Kochi for 2 days during July end. The whole place was full of Arabs with their famileis after the Ramzan season.

Thank you for your very useful reply.

When I hear such news I doubt whether it is safe for Arabs to travel.

Yes, the reason why I am (for now) only interested in visiting South India is due to the positives I have heard and because most Indians that I know (if not all) are from Southern India. Most Indians in the GCC are from South India, in particular Kerala. Arabs also have very long ties to that area of India among many others. Also it does not hurt that it is one of the most famous areas of India to visit as a tourist.

However I am disappointed about you saying that I should not visit Hyderabad. I have 2 good Indian friends (Muslim) who are from Hyderabad and they have told me many times that I should visit. There is also a Yemeni quarter/neighborhood in Hyderabad and I would like to try an authentic Hyderabadi Biryani too. Also the palaces of the Nizam, mosques and other historical areas. What about Bangalore is that more safe? Or Chennai?

Maybe India needs a government surveillance system similar to that in the US, so no buddy can get away from any crime.

I would never visit that insane communist country. Do you know about their regime's close cooperation with a few certain countries in the region and the Russians? If I am not wrong they support Assad too. However I will watch the video. Never knew about it.

As for Arab communities in India.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabs_in_India

Arabs (and other Semites) settled in quite significant numbers (since pre-Islamic times) in many areas of India. In particular Kerala if I am not wrong. But that is so long ago that they have been absorbed and I doubt that you would notice unless by surname. Same story with people of South Asian origin in Arabia. Now absorbed. I mean not the current community but the one that came long before the current one.

Same story with the Sri Lankan Moors. I was quite surprised to learn about all this when I first realized this many years ago. I actually one day wondered why the first mosques outside of the Arabian Peninsula were built in Southern India of all places. This lead to many other topics.

I know that we are everywhere on the planet but I think that NK might be one of the few exceptions for obvious reasons. Especially Saudi Arabians. Maybe some convinced Arab commies have relocated and intermarried with locals.

As for work permit and visa to both those countries, I honestly have no idea about this.

Depends. A Europoid Levantine Arab or Berber from Algeria would stick out in India. You though are ranting on about Arabs as if they are a bloody race - they are not and you know it. They speak Arabic because it was imposed on them. The so called Arabs only share a language like in Americas speak English. They might have African- Americans, Latino Americans, Mestizo Americans, German Americans. americans are not a race.

Similarly Arabs are not a race. They are diverse group, Phonicians, Assyrians, Egyptians, Berbers, Mesoptomians and true Arabs from Arabian peninsula. To ascribe one characteristic look to them all is perverse. I assume your Saudi. Well typical Saudi's are not much differant from Indian's other than they many have Negroid mixture which is rare in India. The main differance is many Saudi's have become millionaires and picked fancy women (from Europe, from Levantine Arabs who have European blood in them from Crusades or Circassian, Turkish, Armenian blend) and look all clean cut and fancy. To compare such people with some poor Indian worker working in the construction site in Saudia is ridiculous. You are choosing to compare a select cohort. If that is case why not compare with Indian Bollywood people?

On the ground typical Saudi looks nothing like Levantines. You can see this from typical Saudi soldiers. Most are no differant from Indian soldiers and if they do look differant that will be because of the Negroid features often found in Saudi's.

So give it a break. The only thing that is going to separate you from the Indian's is (1) they work harder than you (2) they are probably brighter than you and the biggest (3) they have less oil dollars than you.

And please don't bother telling me these soldiers are imported, or some special class, or out in the sun, blah, blah. That applies to all countries.

And did you know Saudia Arabia is Asia. Yes, Asia. This concept of ME etc is purely carved by Europeans. There is West Asia, South Asia, East Asia and Central Asia.

Sorry to everybody here. This guy annoyed with his continous sawing on about Arabs, Arabs and then differantiating them from others. I guess he has not heard the term "Sand N****"? What I would like to ask him is would he stick in Maputo, Timbuktoo, Lagos or would fit in with the wild life there?

And ever seen the mugshots of the 9/11 hijackers? We will assume they are random selection. The Lebanese guy stuck out or maybe the Egyptian. The rest were Saudi's.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is Pakistani. Below the 9/11 pack. They would stick out in India like flashing neon lights ...... would they? Ask the Indians here?

First of all you know absolutely nothing about Arabs, the history of the Arab world or Semites. All those ancient groups of people that you mentioned are all Semitic peoples native to the Arab world and closely related. As proven by genetics, geography, history and linguistic closeness. Aside from common sense.

I believe that I already had a similar discussion with you where you embarrassed yourself once again. I proved you wrong by posting actual DNA tests, a world map of skin colors etc. and by educating you on something called Afro-Arabs which are overrepresented in the Saudi Arabian army.

Don't worry all Muslims are called that term. I believe that your type of people are called that ALONGSIDE the term Gypsy. So you have it twice as bad. But you seem to identity with those ignorants?

Of course a Saudi Arabian/Arab would not stick out in South Asia in particular among such compatriots of yours like those below or in particular Southern Indians.

CpvA79yWIAAS2Yt.jpg:large

As for your photos, the first photo contains 2 Saudi Arabians. The rest people of almost exclusively Yemeni ancestry. Did you know that OBL was half Yemeni (Hadhrami) and half Syrian? No you did not. As for the rest of your photos, there is nothing remotely South Asian or Indian among them.

Pak army:

Where is the difference here DESPITE an overrepresentation of Afro-Arabs in your examples?

Saudi Arabian army (non Afro-Arabs)

And Santa Claus lives in Chad.

Now get lost with your pathetic nonsense trolling, Pashtun.
