Saudi Arabia denies consular access to Zaid Hamid

Did he not realise going on Press TV and mocking the Saudi regime is like putting a bullet in your head! the mind boggles

There country there rules.... does this term apply for Saudi Arabia or not?

And going on pilgrimage to Mecca. You can criticize and mock Saudi regime on as many medias as you want. It only becomes dangerous if you go for Hajj afterwards.

This guy being a strategic analyst should have known this simple fact. Also I read that before going to Saudi Arabia, he had gone to Iran for a visit. So his passport had fresh Iranian stamp on it. I have heard true stories about Pakistanis who visit Iran and then go to Saudi Arabia can be treated harshly. So either they should get a new passport without Iranian stamp on it or they should first go to Saudi Arabia and then visit Iran. Again this guy being an international analyst not knowing these simple facts of life, is bordering on incompetence.

But maybe he was over-confident or believed too much in too good of Saudis.

If this was the case... he may not have given visa...hence this is stupid logic.
While we all know, he was doing activities which apparently were not allowed under Umra visa, playing ignorant only reflect ill intent.
On the other hand Saudi Arabia is well known for his justice system, I have little doubt that any injustice has been done with him.

I have travelled to Saudi Arabia having numerous Iranian visas on my passport, hence your acquisition is self made lie.

Perhaps it was a trap? grant him a visa to make a example out of him.

.
What did he do and why is he in Saudi Arabia?
It is suspicious that he was holding anti state meeting... which may involve militant activities in holy cities.
Other than this we know, his wife was allowed to meet him as a special favor.
This reflect, his crime was of serious nature according to Saudi law.

The Pakistani government should demand access to him. This is disgraceful.

He is a bit dumb in that department and few others.

But is he really 'that' dumb? he enjoys the limelight and entertains to a certain audience. I am pretty sure he knows what he is doing.

You are lying. I personally know Pakistanis who were mistreated because of it. But then you are a Saudi supporter here and trying to do damage control: Spin (public relations) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So what you said is understandable in this regard. But the truth can not be denied. The truth that Saudis are using Ka'ba as a piece of cheese to lay trap for their critics. This guy was trapped because he thought his criticism of Saudi royals is separate from his religious obligation of pilgrimage.

By the way, many Muslims actually believe Mecca and Medina not to belong to Saudis. So your argument that "their country, their rules" do not apply here.

I thought going to Mecca was Hajj? is that not the whole point of people going Mecca?

Could be... but I doubt Saudi Arabia does such cheap tricks.

These days with the Saudi-Iran proxy war both media and covert going on it seems all bets are off.
