British Special Forces have intercepted a convoy of Iranian weapons destined for Taleban insurgents in southern Afghanistan, US, British and Afghan officials said today. General David Petraeus, the commander of US and Nato forces, briefed President Karzai of Afghanistan on the haul in Kabul earlier today. A convoy of three pick-up trucks laden with 48 rockets was intercepted in Nimroz province, which borders Iran, Pakistan and Helmand, on Feb 5. Officials said it was the clearest evidence yet of Tehrans duplicity: secretly arming the Islamist insurgents while also bankrolling Mr Karzais regime with bags of cash given to his chief of staff. William Hague tonight condemned Tehrans completely unacceptable behaviour
