What's new

Saraswati river sprouts to life after 4,000 years in Haryana

You should know that I treat this Saraswati thing as a joke.
Pakistani farmers dont take Saraswati as a joke(thankfully!!). Way back in 90's they dug wells on the dry river bed, which changed the landscape of their villages. What used to be swathe of barren land is now green with farms.
And I'm sure you've (yet again ignored) my request to watch those videos (which I keep posting every now then). That is like behaving as if you've put on blinders.

It your business if you want to believe it I am not going argue with you.
You can NOT argue because you've nothing to prove me wrong. I have shown you enough physical evidences, yet you refuse to believe me. But I'm not giving up!!!
Anyway this is for you from me What do you think? Nice
Mr.ET I would suggest you not to troll a tomboy, lest i find your address and bash you up (something that you assume I would do to you ultimately). Btw the word hate is very visible in that jpg, and hatred is engraved in you. Should I be surprised???

You were the one who assumed India and Pakistan 're still at war.

@levina

I agree that Gaggar/Hakra in the past was a pererrinal river. Infact it is visible on Google Earth however where I differ is that it would have been a subsidiary or a tributary of Indus River much as Jhelum, Sutlej, Beas and Ravi are.

I have no issue with what name you call it. However I take issue when you elevate what was at best a tributary river and then rename the wider Indus Civilization or append it with Saraswati because it is nothing but history being reconfigured to suit the modern Republic of India. I see this as a form of "historical photobombing" of the mighty Indus.

For the historical "Saraswati river" to be larger then Indus you would need catchment area larger then Indus. I have not yet seen the evidence of the catchment area or the course of river from the Himalyas and the route it took to disgorge into the plains. Are you suggesting the Yamuna altered course?

At any rate why not be nice and drop all this rubbish and be friends. We can then embrace each other and you can then help me out with the 'History Forum'?

Your not much good to me if your peddling this nonsense though. So what you say ? Spare me the acerbic reply just say yes or no.

Spare me the acerbic reply just say yes or no.
Yes and No.
I respect your views and you respect mine!
In short we agree to disagree. Acceptable?
If not you can put me on your ignore list.

PS : The discussion on Saraswati will continue. I'm waiting for more proof from ISRO.

Congrats!!! Now please spare Indus Valley and stick to your Sarswati Valley --- Change your country's name to Sarvia
Bhai - Agar Indians ko on ka river mil gaya hai tu tum ko kia masla, at-least now they will stop stealing history of the region which doesn't belongs to them.
They will dig few more pits and the river will become mighty, they already found much older civilization in haryana, so i don't think there is now any need for them to steal history of Indus valley. Only remaining thing is that they have to find evidences that rigveda was written in haryana and that's not big deal. But anyway former Punjabies will still be superior than rest of India.

We are the true inheritors of Indus valley Civilization, both in terms of origin and culture & traditions.

Most Pakistanis claim their roots in Arabia, and almost all Pakistanis barring a handful of minoroties find their cultural links to Middle East........so...........! :)

Continue on your merry way ......

Report on reviving Saraswati river to reach Rajasthan govt in 6 months: Sriram Vedire - The Economic Times

NEW DELHI: The Rajasthan River Basin and Water Resources Planning Authority, tasked with the responsibility of reviving the mythical Saraswati river is likely to submit its report to the state government in six months.

"We would be coordinating with ISRO, Central Ground Water Board, State Ground Water Board, another agency working in the area of arid zone paleo-channels institute and National Institute of Hydrology, to give a report to the government... We will take three to six months to analyse the facts and prepare a detailed report," Sriram Vedire, Chairman, Rajasthan River Basin and Water Resources Planning Authority told reporters here.

The authority was constituted by the Government of Rajasthan to look into various issues connected with river basins including intra-basin river water transfer.

It was primarily given the task of reviving Saraswati river, believed to have existed in ancient times.

Citing evidences of ISRO maps and Central Ground Water Board data, Vedire said that paleo-channels (remnant of an inactive river) exist on the assumed course of Saraswati river.

"The data of Central Ground Water Board and ISRO satellite maps indicate that there are paleo-channels flowing under the ground... However, it has to be further analysed and studied whether these channels are Saraswati river," he said.

Stressing the importance of reviving of paleo-channels, he said that the step can help in recharging water, in a big way.

"In Rajasthan that paleo channel is assumed as Saraswati (river), which we are trying to revive. By reviving that, the ground flows will become natural flows above the ground. So, there will be recharge of surplus flow that comes on the surface from the ground. So, it is a mutual contribution, where the surface water would recharge the ground water and ground flow will come as a natural spring flow."

He mentioned that the paleo-channels are located anywhere between 300 and 600 feet.

Vedire, who is also member of the Task Force on Interlinking of Rivers of the Union Water Resources Ministry, said that the National Watar Development Agency (NWDA) has been asked to conduct water balance studies for Mahanadi and Godavari river basins for updating information on projected water usage and water yield of the rivers.

The tussle between Punjab and Haryana over sharing of river water dominated the discourse during the Northern Zonal Council (NZC) meeting here on Friday with Union home minister Rajnath Singh watching the two neighbouring states squabbling like siblings.

This quarrel continued — though in a lighter vain — even towards the end of the conference in which Rajasthan also attempted to pull punches.

According to sources privy to this off- the- cuff “friendly attack and counter attack”, Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh tried to ambush his Haryana counterpart and chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, demanding water from Yamuna river.

Yamuna flows through Haryana and not in Punjab. And, one of the contentions of Punjab has been that Haryana’s claim on Punjab river waters is untenable as the rivers of the border state do not flow into Haryana. Punjab says how can Haryana claim share in water of the rivers which do not flow in its territory.

As Captain bounced this googly, Rajasthan’s water resources minister Ram Pratap pitched in, saying his state will demand water from Jhelum.

Finally, Khattar retaliated and asked Amarinder to first participate in his ambitious “mission” to revive the 4,000-year-old mythical river Sarswati. The saffron party state government, led by the RSS pracharak-turned-CM Khattar, has made a blueprint to inject life into Saraswati by flowing water in the river.

After a chance discovery of aquifers at Mugalwali village, the elated state BJP government has been trying to put its stamp on this vote-churning and religiously important project.

“Tomorrow, all of you will demand water share in Saraswati also,” quipped Khattar, according to his aide.

Sharing of water of various rivers of the region was among the 18 items the NZC discussed and deliberated upon, according to the Press Information Bureau (PIB).

The NZC consists of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, National Capital Territory of Delhi and Union Territory of Chandigarh.
