Samsung mobile phone update to Android Pie operating system: display AT&T's fake 5G logo
5G will be a big technology development direction, although it is not yet ready to realize the prime time for its application. Real (real) 5G will not be widely used until the end of 2019, but some companies do not want their users to know this. AT&T is promoting their LTE-A technology through carrier aggregation, LAA, 4×4 MIMO and 256 QAM. This technology basically means faster speed and better coverage, but it won't be as fast or low latency as 5G. LTE-A and 5G are very different technologies.
US mobile operator AT&T
Suspected fraud: AT&T placed the 5G E logo on some phones that received LTE signals
AT&T will use the 5G buzzword "5G E" to refer to their LTE-A technology (they are released later); operators like T-Mobile have released LTE-A technology with the Samsung Galaxy S7. AT&T just released it, but they are using 5G terminology to make it look new. Currently, most modern smartphones support it. Samsung's One UI (Android Pie OS Skin) software will display the 5G E icon in the status bar. Doggo on the SamCentral Discord server is running on the Samsung Galaxy S8+ and leaking the One UI beta, indicating that it has this logo instead of the LTE logo. SamC's KenC also saw this icon appear on his Galaxy Note 9, and its device leaked the One UI test version.

AT&T's display of this 5G E logo is not the most honest thing an operator can do. This misleads users into thinking that their phones have 5G technology that is not yet available on the device. Many unwitting customers will think that this is a big technology that will be launched in 2019 and they are confused about what they actually use.

Samsung will launch a true 5G smartphone in early 2019, and Samsung will launch the Galaxy S10 in 2019 (whether it is a true 5G or not). We can confirm this in the Galaxy Note 9 code. We will learn more about 5G and launch at MWC 2019 in February, and many companies will launch their own 5G mobile devices.
