Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, on Wednesday said that the swift move with which the Taliban took over Afghanistan has surprised the security establishment. Adding that the Taliban is 'the same', Rawat said that the Indian security set-up is prepared to deal with the side-effects of the Taliban takeover in India.

Speaking at an ORF event - 'The India-US Partnership: Securing the 21st Century', Rawat said that the events in Afghanistan were anticipated.

"News reports and news from ex-pats who have come from there are all telling us the kind of activities that Taliban is into. All that has happened is that the partners have now changed. It's the same Taliban with different partners," Rawat said in New Delhi.

Taliban's move swift: Rawat
Rawat said that the move was expected a couple of months down the line, but added that the Taliban that has taken over Kabul now is the same group that existed 20 years ago.

"We were concerned about how terrorist activity from Afghanistan could overflow into India and so to that extent our contingency planning had been ongoing and we're prepared for that... Everything that has happened was something that had been anticipated, only the timelines have changed. From the Indian perspective, we were anticipating the Taliban takeover of #Afghanistan," Rawat further said.

India has, on global platforms, stressed that a stable Afghanistan is crucial for regional peace. New Delhi is, however, watching the situation closely and further diplomatic response to the developments in Kabul is still work-in-progress. Speaking to reporters in New York, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had recently said that given the fact that the Taliban and its representatives have come to Kabul, India will 'need to take it on from there'.

Poor CDS Rawat has one more enemy to tackle with.

Indian leadership and PDF Indians: we were expecting that punch and our brilliant strategy was to take it straight in the nose to maximize the squished surface. It is a great follow up to our strategy of saying we would avoid the punch easily but still we outsmarted the Pakistanis by taking the punch in the face.. Jai Hind!

I'm just amazed at the Indian recruitment standards then and now --
They absolutely have no shame, on top of that the amount of people that eat up what comes out of the mouth of these ilk is even more surprising.

Indian Generals ridiculing their own spymaster.

By the Way who are those 15-20 Top Pakistani security officials who tries to put some sanity into thick indian skull:)
Shows how genuinely PA had advised everyone irrespective of issues. That probably is one reason we have not seen the usual critical statement of ISI ‘this and that’ from relevant western powers, as they all know what was being communicated consistently to them for yeaaarrrsss.

The Martians have already prepared Mars for the Taliban takeover too. Darth Vader warned them in March 2021............ :disagree:

Interesting video. Mr. Doval says that the assumption is that the 350K ANA would hold Afghanistan aloft against Taliban. As an ally of the Afghan gov., the Indian establishment is/was expected to say exactly this. I do not find him at fault for saying so.

It is also impressive to see how well the Pakistani security folk understood the nature of the ANA (in their backyard). The fact that Mr.Doval is not only candid about the Pakistani opinion on the topic, but also gives the rationale from their view point seems to indicate some respect to the Pakistani opinion. But of course, he then proceeds to dismiss the Pakistani evaluation - as an Indian establishment man is expected to do. :-)

What spy master?!? These scums are terror masters!!! They learnt their traits from the street criminals while being bad cops at the Indian police!!

By the by, the British ruled over 330m Indians using police under 10K civil officers of the English origin! Since then the Hindu leaders have been relying on their police offices to deliver for they know their military is like Garbage IN, Garbage OUT….

*In fact the Indian police officials have delivered! RAW headed by police officers during BD creation, Police officials during squaring Naxal, Khalistan etc. armed upheavals.
