MATHURA: A 45-year-old sadhvi (woman disciple) was allegedly gang-raped inside the famous temple complex in Barsana four days back, police said.

The incident took place on the night of September 11 at the Sriji temple in Barsana, near Mathura came to limelight after the CCTV footage showed two people both workers molesting the woman.

According to the FIR, the woman was sleeping in the balcony of the temple when a watchman and another staffer forcibly took her to a secluded place and took turns raping her.

“Two police teams have been formed to nab the accused,”SP Rural, Aditya Kumar Shukla, said. He added the victim has been sent to a hospital for medical examination.

Traumatised by the incident, she initially didn’t say anything. However, she told reporters that she approached police on the evening of September 13 but no FIR was registered.

The FIR was finally lodged on September 14 on the intervention of SSP Swapnil Mamgai after word of the incident gradually started to spread.

The victim, hailed from Odisha and for the past few years she had been living at the temple as a ‘sadhvi‘ (disciple).

Rajasthan: 6-year-old tied to table, gangraped in govt school

Barmer, Rajasthan: A six-year-old girl allegedly got gang-raped Friday inside the premises of a government school in Barmer of Rajasthan, police said.
A complaint was registered with the police on the basis of the statement given by victim’s father. The student of Class 2 was tied to a table in a room near the school toilet and gang-raped on Thursday, the complaint mentioned.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, two people, both sweepers of the school, have been detained

The FIR had been filed under section 376(D), 376-2(I) of the Indian Penal Code and the anti-child sexual abuse act, said Anita Rani, in-charge of the women’s police station.

The six-year-old is in the hospital and is stable, doctors said. “Doctors have not found any external or internal injuries on the girl in the medical examination. But we have sent her vaginal swab for forensic examination,” said superintendent of police Gagandeep Singla.

“We have asked a deputy SP to investigate the case,” Singla added.

Safety of children in Indian schools is under scanner following the murder of an eight-year-old boy inside Gurgaon’s Ryan International School. The boy was found outside the school toilet on the ground floor, crawling and bleeding profusely before he died.

In the last three years, 56 cases of alleged sexual violence against girls by teachers in schools have been registered, as per the data from the Rajasthan home department. It also indicates that of the 55 teachers who have been accused, none has been convicted and five have been acquitted.

Gang rape victim brings piece of ear as evidence for FIR

Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh: Alleging the police for their failing to lodge an FIR, a woman carried piece of a severed ear as evidence of being gang-raped.

On Thursday, she walked into the Aligarh Senior Superintendent of Police’s office, as police did not register an FIR in her gangrape complaint. She also complained that the police had not taken any action since two days, reported Hindustan Times.

The woman then produced a disfigured bit of the cartilage before Superintendent of Police (rural) Yashveer Singh, as the senior official was not present. She added the police collected some information, and also they completed a few formalities but did not file the FIR.

Singh ordered filing two FIRs – lodged by both the parties involved – in this case.

The woman informed HT that while she was sleeping with her children on Monday night, four people of her neighbourhood entered her residence and gang-raped her. Her husband, who was sleeping in a makeshift room outside the house was also assaulted when he tried to rescue the victim.

In an attempt to take a measure, the woman bit off a suspect’s ear. The assaulters also threatened the couple of dire consequences if they revealed any information about the incident.

Four out of the five suspects have been arrested in the attempted gangrape case.
