Saab's Barracuda Soft Armour​

Barracuda Soft Armour is a bullet and splinter proofing technology that provides safety for personnel, compounds, important equipment and installations in hostile environments.

The armour provides multiple-hit protection and can withstand several strikes in the same area without any degradation of protection.The technology is excellent for use in the construction of structures such as walls, shields and reception desks.

Key features

• Soft Armour protects against all small arms ammunition including armour piercing.
• Protection against ballistic penetration, counter barrier systems and portable shelters that provide defence against AP ammunition, RPG and vehicle attacks plus protection from heat build-up for vehicles, ammunition and personnel.
• With a weight of 180 kg/m² and a thickness of 120 mm, the system protects against bursts of 7.62*51 AP ammunition (equivalent to STANAG level III). The Saab Modular Soft Armour also protects against most fragmentation on the battlefield.
  
• The system is a box concept filled with hard ceramic balls. The system is especially designed to enhance survivability and can be fitted to any structure prior to missions, or even retrofitted to existing structures in operational theatre.
  
• The system has a lower total cost than ceramic and composite protection, with reusability, multi-hit capabilities and high flexibility.
  
• The protection level of the Modular Soft Armour system ~180 kg/m² can be compared with concrete 500 kg/m² and RHA 200 kg/m².

While in Pakistan ,one can commonly see gravel that is being used around security instillations and for personnel security. Some research and manufacturing facilities in this regard can aid us to manufacture similar versions of light armour system which can help us replace those crushed stones with these light weight pallets.It can be rapidly deployed and can cut the bulk of work, as this system can operate as a stand-alone.

In Pakistan too i have seen it but it's very rare.For intance the following one.

The picture is old, there is a new structure as well in addition to it ,which also uses the soft armor version.I've not got that recent pic with me now.
The reason is the same as you have mentioned above,except it's not the diplomatic staff that we are talking about here.
But it's very rare as i said, which means that they are mostly importing the stuff and it can very much be produced inside Pakistan if we can focus our attention towards it.High time.
