S Korea asks Pakistan to play role in restraining Pyongyang

Pakistan, as a friend of North Korea and member of the UN Security Council, can play an effective role in restraining Pyongyang from threatening South Korea and persuading mass production of nuclear weapons, observed South Korean Minister Counsellor, Cho Koo-rae, in interaction with select journalists.



“Pakistan’s economy would also be at stake if South Korea is attacked by the North,” said Cho, adding that trade volume between South Korea and Pakistan is 1.5 billion dollars and over ten thousand Pakistanis are working in South Korea.



The Korean envoy hailed the statement issued by the Foreign Office of Pakistan, expressing regrets over the North Korea’s nuclear test. “Pakistan is staunch supporter of no proliferation regime; it should intensify efforts for a denuclearized Korean peninsula.”



Criticizing the threats uttered by North Korean envoy at the recent UN Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, Cho said that these threats were awfully provocative and UN Charter and diplomatic norms.

Even Kim Jong Un will have hard time locating Israel in the world map, forget about North Korea being a deterrent against Israel. And talking about being against US, North Koreans are having tough time maintaining their own existence.

Now Pakistan has drifted away from liquid fuel engines to solid,but they still have much to offer...They recently conducted nuclear tests..The data can be shared with Pakistan to improve Pakistani nuclear weapons..They got cryogenic engines for rockets..That can be a good TOT.

Pakistan along with China and Russia is perhaps the only country to have relations with NK.
It's only natural for South Korea to approach these countries and ask them to use their influence or contacts in an effort to lower the tempo......nothing out of ordinary.

North Korea's stand against the tyrants led on by the United States is highly admirable
We have no enimity with South Korea , we wish both north and south korea the very best.

South Korea being an ally of the United States should get the Americans to back off from being belligerent around the world

I think Pakistan should step in and restrain N.Korea and perhaps even convince them to open up eventually. It'd serve our image well and establish us as a global player too. A stable region would be in everyone's interest so would be a peaceful, stable and friendly N. Korea.

Billions of Dollars of investment....and that's what Pakistan need to survive at present....Btw forgot to include Hyundai,Samsung and L.G....And then I don't think even Japan will appriciate your support to North Korean so now include Toyota,Honda,Sony,Suzuki in that list too....Plus billion of dollars of loan for infratructure projects...
