How was my post in any way infering to any type of poltical catastrophe in India or pointing towards religious polarisation of India by zealots.

For the last time,my post was not meant to criticise secularity or convey any type of sectarian or majority bullcrap.All I was trying to emanate was the hypocrisy of the so called liberals or "seculars" who try to project a view of minority transgression by various institution but when atrocities committed by the aforementioned minority comes into the limelight,takes a protectionist viewpoint.This type of behaviour is called secularism in India but what really define it is the word lobbying.

As a member of the US academic community, she has every right to air her views, however controversial. The debate that she provokes can be only good for intellectual discourse. Let her speak her mind freely. The country that she criticizes grants her this freedom unequivocally.

I think this freedom of speech thing is getting a bit stupid now, yes you have right to speak out your mind, however, shouldn't you really debate first if it should be discussed or not?

Why not something else? If you have freedom to express, use it for a better argument.

I've studied in USA for 3 years. I know for a fact that most professors will think twice before sharing their views. It's called being a responsible academic.

You can engage in any discussion you want as you say you have freedom, but tell me why is it anyone harping on the holocaust or debating Israeli policy, that in USA is surely going to get fired or face consequences?

Maybe the recent case of Steven Salaita will ring some bells.

Steven Saliata was not yet a Professor, otherwise he would have had the same rights to speak out his mind. I can assure you that debates over the Holocaust are rigors and unfettered among academics and their students here.

There was probably more to his offer being rescinded than just those tweets. Freedom of speech is taken very seriously here, without a doubt. Try going to just about any MSA in a major college and see if there is any restriction on them speaking their mind about Israel.
