There was probably more to his offer being rescinded than just those tweets. Freedom of speech is taken very seriously here, without a doubt. Try going to just about any MSA in a major college and see if there is any restriction on them speaking their mind about Israel.

Yes, we had on our MSA. Were not able to organize a campus talk by Muslim students on the Israeli-Palestinian wars. We invited the Jewish students as well, and surprisingly the campus Rabbi wanted to join in, but the student government on the request of the provost asked us to change the topic....(pretty much saying it cannot be done)

So, i think you pretend you know more than you actually do.

Bigotry may exist only if one side tries to exclude all else. Institutions of higher education do not work that way. The same places that raised alarms over the Vietnam war are alive and well, and as I showed above, engaged in vigorous debate over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in addition to other topics, and presenting all sides of the issue. The system may not be perfect, but it works very well, nonetheless.

People will absolutely not face legal consequences for exercising their freedom of speech. (assuming it isnt something like screaming fire in a crowded theater)

That said, people also have the right to criticize your views, and you do not have the right to not be criticized. Likewise private business has more leeway in how they respond than the government. If your words or actions can be seen/demonstrated as hurting the business or 'brand' of a company, even if it comes to their attention while you are off work, you can and usually will be fired/not get hired at a potential job.
