if the east can supply what the west suppliesAbout Time Russia should look towards east rather than the west with no resources at all . East is rich in resources should work with Russia to exploit it's resources to benefit it's citizens . Say no to west hegemony

Iraq has vast natural resources as well. So does Russia. So what can Russia sell them and vice versa? oil and gas?About Time Russia should look towards east rather than the west with no resources at all . Iraq has the ability to pump 8 m barrels of oil that's the third biggest producer and second exporterLol So Russia is looking for partners/sanction relief in Iraq? old boy.....as I said from now on due to Russia constant aggression on its Eastern European neighbours and Invasion of Ukraine they will be isolated and sanctioned for a long time to come. They will be just another bigger version of North Korea. No meaningful country will want to trade with them openly and normally again like before and all the effects that will jave on their economy/industry and ability to keep up with global technological landscape/globalisation. Their only saving grace from being like North Korea is that they have a large landmass and vast natural resources . In fact to be honest, Russia according to several science journals is the richest country on earth in terms of natural resources/value. So every Russian citizen should be leaving a good/luxury life if not for the mismanagement, failed economic policies, deep seated corrupt state of the regime and its oligarchs, Mafia like government, and the vast embezzlement of the country resources by a few leading to brain drain. To be honest Iran is kinda the dame with their vast natural resources but similar state of affairs..
Anyway, giving the current conditions which will probably last for decades, Russia will have to be relying alot on China for support/survival going forward. Hope they won't become the subordinate by default in the relationship. Lol

it is to try to get the Iraqis to cut back on oil production to boost the priceLol So Russia is looking for partners/sanction relief in Iraq? old boy.....as I said from now on due to Russia constant aggression on its Eastern European neighbours and Invasion of Ukraine they will be isolated and sanctioned for a long time to come. No disagreement here. I suspect Lavrov was trying to rally oil producers to make production cuts for higher energy prices to hurt USA and Western EuropeCan't see how Iraq would do this.
Yes, it will jack up the price but it will not be much because Iraq and Russia combine can't put more than US and Canada combine. And Iraq need contract, not price, and oil is in high demand again after we emerge from COVID. I mean, sure Russia have nothing to lose because they are going to have to sell their oil and gas to anyone who buy on a discount price. I mean what can Iraq get?? Other than getting screwed?
It seems you have absolutely no idea how oil prices work. Can't see how Iraq would do this.

Actually I do know how oil price work, but seems like you don'tIt seems you have absolutely no idea how oil prices work.
Honestly it's shocking that you don't know that.
I am Surprised you don't know how oil prices in USA works
Lol, it won't hurt the US, may hurt a bit on Western Europe, but as I said before they did that to themselves, so I have no sympathy....No disagreement here. I suspect Lavrov was trying to rally oil producers to make production cuts for higher energy prices to hurt USA and Western Europe
JustActually I do know how oil price work, but seems like you don't
First of all, anything under produced by Iraq and Russia can be offset by US and Canada, that's number 1, which mean even if Iraq agreed to do this and drop a couple of million barrel (most likely 400-500k barrel in reality, IF THEY DO THAT) would not impact the oil price on commodity market.
Secondly, oil prices DON'T Dictate market demand, because oil is still something we can't get rid of, so people are going to buy oil even if US and Canada did not offset that difference and shoot up the price, the problem is, by limiting your supply, you cannot fulfil the demand out there, simply because your supply dropped, you can't fulfill the supply, and this wouldn't be a problem during COVID, because oil consumption is low, as China and most other places stop working, but Post COVID would shoot up oil demand regardless, and by limiting your supply to shoot the price up, you are not going to take the post COVID boom.
And finally, oil production unlike anything else, even if you shut off the well, it will still need to perform maintenance, oil pipeline also needed to fill even if you don't deliver, you are still paying for infrastructure.
And one more point, US, not Russia is the winner of this "oil price war" because US is selling what they can at high price while Russia is selling their stock at discount, unless you believe Russia is selling market price to India and China. The problem is, 70-80 is the greatest range for US oil, for russia to work, it would have to be over $100. And US is comfortable to keep it between 70-80, so yes, unless Iraq want to commit suidide, they wouldn't pull down their production rate, because unlike Russia, they have everything to lose.
Lol, it won't hurt the US, may hurt a bit on Western Europe, but as I said before they did that to themselves, so I have no sympathy....
Commodity market analyst generally agreed that Russia need $90-100 to break even, or make a little profit, and we didn't see that since probably June last year, that contribute to Russian national fund is getting dry up, they need either more contract to off set the price drop or to shoot up the oil price so they can break even.
I don't see how Oil Price is going to shoot up to 100 + now, even with Post COVID boom, because it's quite simple really, tap don't turn on = no money, demand always trump price, unlike someone else I just reply to think.
