The numbers were blown of proportions simple as that. Russian wagners were a small part compared to the Syrian forces trying to take the oilfield. Turkey is also not the US, Russia could care less about their relations.

There was no air support because those PMC are not affiliated with the gov especially against someone like the US gov. Air support is operating in Libya already verified by US AFRICOM.
