Russian UEC offers to codevelop engine for India’s Indigenous AMCA combat aircraft

Russian United Engine Corporation (UEC) while speaking to Indian media confirmed that it is ready to codevelop in cooperation with India in the frame of Make in India initiative a new engine for future projects such as India’s Indigenous AMCA combat aircraft. Offer reportedly was made on the sidelines of Aero India 2017 to Indian officials. UEC had showcased newest Russian Aero engine AL41F1S which powers Russian Sukhoi Su 35 multirole fighter jet and the same engine was also offered to India to be used on India’s Sukhoi Su 30 MKI combat jets under super 30 upgrade program. UEC said that it is open to creating a new engine for a AMCA project using most modern technologies from present and future turbofan engine technologies . While India has been offered AL41F1S engines to be used on India’s Sukhoi Su 30 MKI combat jets but India might decide to keep the current AL31FP engines to save cost and instead develop improvements in Technologies to be used on the engine to make it more safer and operationally viable. India for its indigenous AMCA combat aircraft is looking for active partners to codevelop new turbofan engine which can generate 110kN class of thrust and is presently have a negotiation with American companies like GE to codevelop customise engines for AMCA based on their reliable F414 engines. European company EuroJet has also offered its EJ200 turbofan jet engine to codevelop an enhanced variant of the same in engine .
