Sukhoi PAK-FA Stealth Fighter Climbing Speed

Russia’s T-50 or PAK-FA fifth generation fighter aircraft achieved a climbing rate of 384 meters per second, a speed at which it could reach the altitude of Mount Everest (8848m) in 23 seconds.

This feat was demonstrated during testing recently, according to Russian newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta. Such a climbing speed would have allowed the stealth aircraft to reach an altitude equal to the peak of Mount Everest, the highest mountain on Earth, in a mere 23 seconds.

Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted Russian Aerospace Forces Commander Col. Gen. Viktor Bondarev as saying that the final test including the deployment of live weapons will be completed this year.

The warplane will be outfitted with advanced weapons such as X-74M2 cruise missile, X-58USHK anti-radar missile and tactical X-35UE anti-ship missile. The aircraft is also equipped with advanced avionics and a phased array radar system.

The T-50 is a single-seat, twin-engine jet fighter, and the first operational aircraft in Russian service to use stealth technology. The warplane is due to enter service by the end of 2016.

India is expected to be the first launch customer of the export version of PAK FA. Recently, India and Russia agreed on the price of the fighter to be bought by the Indian Air Force.

It's a disappointment seeing such a great fighter troubled by lack of funds.

not sure how Russia doesn't have the cash to fund this.

maybe if they didn't waste all that money on Sochi they could have funded the Pak-FA five times over

If you would have kept a close eye over the "economical warfare" as well as the armed one then you would have been in a better position to understand :)
Saudi maneuver to bring oil prices from 100+ to -50 have brought Russia into a kind of economical situation as it was in early 90's. Though afterwards it was Saudia that is unable to recover from the effects of its own folly but Russia has taken pressure nonetheless.

Russia has ordered Su 35 for the second time (around 50) recently, amid Russia economy difficulties currently. It will make Russia Su 35 will be 100 in 2020. So it is quite difficult to understand that if we use your logic to explain it.

I believe there is another reason that make Russia slows Pakfa development. Something that is more technical than money I guess. Maybe they try to redesign the plane after they got test flight result, something that was also happening with F 22 program.

8 planes actually if we use our MoD latest statement as a basis, with option to complete those planes until we have 16 of them (1 squadron).

There is an event in Russia next Month, according to our MoD, he will sign the contract at that event. It seems the negotiation process has been over regarding our TOT requirement.

Sanctions and corruption can do that to the economy. The Russians are spending money they don't have, and it's actually starting to effect them.

I fully predict that Russia's internal rivalries are going to increase, as different state institutions start competing for funding. This rivalry will obviously be kept out of the public eye and the government will show a united front, but we'll start seeing signs of it sometime this year, or the next.

Pity that Russia themselves are not inducting PakFa. This means development is incomplete. Need India to complete its development.

is it just me, or PAK-FA is one skinny sexy b!tch :smitten:
But it can't hold a candle to the sexy F-16! :man_in_love:

Last month Indian and Russian negotiators achieved a major breakthrough, agreeing to develop the FGFA at a lowered cost of $4 billion (Rs 27,000 crore) in India.

That would open the doors to building of 250 FGFAs for the IAF. With this the IAF would become the third most powerful air force in the world quantitatively as well as qualitatively!
