Russian Satellite Hit by Debris from Chinese Anti-Satellite Test

Yes you are. Aiwain hee OP mazzay lena chah raha the! :D

I don't think this can be the case, even if a satellite is exploded to many smaller parts, each smaller part would have formed it's own respective orbit & wouldn't have deviated from it. Given that this test was done in 2007 (i.e. full 5 years back), each space faring nation would have taken precautions so that there sat doesn't get hit, if it were to get hit, it would have in 2007 itself not 5 years after that, given every respective piece was in it's own orbit.

Am i right @Hyperion??

Ignorant post.No meteors pieces exist in such orbits.

Science 101: meteors do not orbit Earth. They travel from extraterrestrial space and (some of them) fall into the Earth. On their way from extraterrestrial space to Earth's surface, they cross the orbits of satellites.

No it doesn't cover the testing of Anti-satellite weapons and littering of outer space.

Treaty does
not prohibit the placement
of conventional weapons in orbit.

It exclusively limits the use of the Moon and other celestial bodies to peaceful purposes and expressly prohibits their use for testing weapons of any kind, conducting military maneuvers, or establishing military bases, installations, and fortifications (Art.IV)

Read the article IV in its entirety.

It is very possible that fragments may have two motions around earth ,one due to gravitational force of earth other due to momentum acquired after the blast.

Read the whole sentence to grasp the essence.

It exclusively limits the use of the Moon

peaceful purposes and
expressly prohibits their use

military bases, installations,
and fortifications (Art.IV). However, the Treaty does
not prohibit the placement

It clearly mentions celestial body and not the outer space and conventional weapon is allowed.

it bars States Parties to the Treaty from placing nuclear weapons or any other weapons of mass destruction in orbit of Earth, installing them on the Moon or any other celestial body,

Orbit of earth is included dude, along with other solar planets like moon and other.

OUTER SPACE TREATY!

What is the definition of outer space?

So basically.. the Chinese ended up trolling the Russians inadvertently..
Considering the amount of Junk that floats in space.. Im sure we are heading to

The intentional destruction on Jan. 11 of China's Fengyun-1C weather satellite via an anti-satellite (ASAT) device launched by the Chinese has created a mess of fragments fluttering through space.

The satellite's destruction is now being viewed as the most prolific and severe fragmentation in the course of five decades of space operations.

Lobbed into space atop a ballistic missile, the ASAT destroyed the weather-watching satellite that had been orbiting Earth since May 10, 1999 [image]. The result was littering Earth orbit with hundreds upon hundreds of various sizes of shrapnel.

Then, "apparently", it shouldn't be a problem to prove it, right?

You know very little about this, dont ya, Punk? Its not as if its written in a scripture that its the final word. This kind of thing requires lot of testing to be 100 % sure to make any claim.

What is the definition of outer space?

Dude have a look on points of treaty .In between I think celestial bodles are in outer space.Don't presume anything .Treaty's ever word carrles meaning what it is meant for nothing more nothing less.

the exploration and use of
outer space shall be carried out for the benefit and in the
interests of all countries and
shall be the province of all
mankind;
outer space shall be free for exploration and use by allStates;
outer space is not subject to national appropriation by
claim of sovereignty, by means of use or occupation, or by any other means; States shall not place nuclear weapons or other weapons of mass destruction in orbit or on celestial bodies or station them in outer space in any other manner;
the Moon and other celestial bodies shall be used exclusively for peaceful purposes;

astronauts shall be regarded as the envoys of mankind;

States shall be responsible for
national space activities
whether carried out by
governmental or non-
governmental entities;
States shall be liable for damage caused by their space
objects; and
States shall avoid harmful contamination of space and celestial bodies.

You fail to even comprehend what is the definition of OUTER SPACE. May be thats why you are silent sheep.

But it okey:
Outer space, or simply space, is the void that exists between celestial bodies, including the Earth
