Russian rotocraft maker testing lightweight Ansat helicopter in Pakistan

.
sir do you think these days the planning mode of the armed forces is going lower then ever with all these random trials and purchases. we already use soo many types of helicopters why cant all the branches of armed forces including the para military and civilian government issue a bigger contract for light medium and heavy lift helicopters with some kind of TOT. Some time its just embarrassing and puzzling really makes you think these people are not thinking from there brains
Yes, only Air Force is focusing on indigenisation.

.
There is room for Transport Helicopters in Military Aviation Fleet (Medium to Light)
There is room for Transport Helicopters for Navy / at Gawadar port (Medium to Light)
There is room for Helicopters in Air-force for Key installation protection and recon
Rangers also have need to control Afghan/Pakistan border

All Provinces need 20 Units each , from Provincial Budgets for Security and Airlift

Lot of room for Medium and Light Helicopters to join Pakistani military and Provincial setup

Nice platform to take 16 Soldiers drop them in Village for a quick Checkup

If there is one lesson we must learn from 2005-2007 natural disasters is that we needed Helicopters for saving lives in Remote areas and also for taking supplies to certain disaster hit areas

This could be an excellent helicopter to replace our older ones (only if we get jv or localized production) . And more importantly an MRO facility...

@Path-Finder but it is too bulky and not very maneuverable compared to something like the uh 60.

@Hassan Guy and the funny thing is PAA and other ministeries actually have a larger requirement for helicopters.
If this bird is for Pakistan................ only then .......... My guess is this is for our disaster management unit ........ They need helis for any emergency situation (right now they look towards Army) ....... And this light heli can do great (easily take light category)

To that I would I would say looks are not important in military equipment but their utility is. Mi17 is not being phased out for a reason. It is a workhorse that no other manufacturer can compete with that includes Boeing CH-47 Chinook.

Most importantly the war on Terror that Pakistan achieved success in! This helo was the vital backbone of operations in ferrying troops and their equipment.

Mobility of this machine is unparalleled.

ISLAMABAD/MOSCOW – Russian Helicopters, part of Rostec State Corporation, has started testing multi-purpose Kazan Ansat aircraft in Pakistan, the company announced in a statement on Thursday.

The objective of testing is to prove the ability to use the machine in high temperatures. It is planned to expand Ansat’s temperature regime to +50° Celsius. After the testing gets successfully completed, the temperature range of the helicopter will be from -45° to +50° Celsius.

Ansat is a light multipurpose twin-engine helicopter serial production of which is deployed at the Kazan helicopter plant. In May 2015, the modification of the model with a medical module was certified. It complies with all international standards for medical aviation and allows to save a patient’s life during transporting to a hospital.

According to the helicopter certificate, its design allows converting it into a cargo version or into a passenger rotorcraft that can lift up to eight people.

“Ansat is a very attractive helicopter due to its flight performance characteristics, including for customers from Asia and the Middle East. We have planned several upgrades of the machine, including the extension of the temperature range. I hope that positive test results will turn the interest of potential buyers into a number of agreements”, said the company’s Deputy CEO for marketing and business development Alexander Shcherbinin.

The company plans to finish the testing by mid-November. After this, a conference is scheduled in Islamabad for potential Pakistani customers to explore the helicopter’s competitive advantages and specific features of operation.

Ansat aircraft
Ansat is a Russian light multipurpose twin-engine helicopter serial produced at the Kazan helicopter plant.

The helicopter has a classic single-rotor design with a four blade main rotor and a two-blade tail rotor. The hinge-less main rotor makes it easier to handle and significantly reduces its operating costs.

The Ansat has a metal fuselage, composite non load-bearing parts, and layered fibreglass blades. The Ansat boasts the largest cabin in its class with a wide sliding door and can transport up to 8 passengers.

Ansat is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW 207K 630 hp turboshaft engines with Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) system that ensures the helicopter can continue to fly if one engine fails.

The Ansat’s avionics, piloting and navigation systems include an on-board information system, multi-functional indicators and a failure warning system.

The training model uses a KSU-A fly-by-wire flight control system and has a four-channel digital integrated control system.

Ansat helicopter can be configured for a wide range of missions including cargo and passenger transportation, surveillance, search and rescue (SAR), fire-fighting, and MEDEVAC missions.

Pak-Russia military cooperation
In August this year, the Pakistan Army Aviation Corps (PAAC) took delivery of four Russian-made Mi-35M attack helicopters.

The Mi-35M attack helicopter, the export version of the Mi-24 gunship, was developed by the Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant and has been produced in Russia since 2005.

Russia officially lifted an arms embargo against Pakistan, in place since the Soviet-Afghan War, in June 2014.

Pakistan and Russia agreed to the $153 million helicopter deal, which included training, spare parts and ground support equipment, during then-Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif’s visit to Russia in June 2016.

My question was only to highlight the different roles a helo is required to fulfill. Just like one piece of clothing can't fulfill many roles, you do need different (not many with the same capability) types of helos suitable for different geographical regions.

i dont but most countries do the same including china with z-9, usa with bell uh1 and india with cheetah
pakistan is more the exception rather than the norm

and i never knew we were as rich as arabs to wear different clothes/mschines for different occasions

i wear mostly t shirts, or scrubs thats pretty much it may be fleece jacket for winter
lol

. . . . . .
Lama is aerospatiale, high alt. rel-high endurance heli. or am I misreading!
I misread the Ansat helicopter description at that time. Thought it was 'hot-and-high' trials in Pakistan, but it's actually just hot temperature trials. So I guess Russia is trying to pitch the Ansat as a replacement for the Alouette III.
