RussianRocketEngineDeliverytoChinaMayBeAgreedbyDecember

HARBIN (Sputnik) – "We are talking about an agreement to deliver Russian rocket engines to China, as well as counter deliveries of Chinese microelectronics we need in spacecraft development," Rogozin said after meeting Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang.

Rogozin opened the second China-Russia Exposition in Harbin, the capital of the northeast Chinese province of Heilongjian bordering Russia, alongside Wang Yang, on Monday.

The fair will last till Friday, over 10,000 businessmen from 103 countries are reported to be attending the trade fair's opening day.

The two countries’ first expo was held on June 30-July 4 in Harbin last year under the "new platform – new possibilities" slogan.

Last year's successful negotiations between Russia and China on expanding cooperation in the space industry resulted in the implementation of joint projects in the sphere.

Hope Russia won't deliver the engines like they did to SK, and we are happy to supply them microelectronics...

Unlike the aircrafts, we don't need any Russia rocket engine, since no Chinese rocket was designed to fit with the Russian rocket engine.

It's a cooperative agreement. It's not a matter of need, rather it is because Russia has rocket engines we can use in addition to the ones we are making. Similarly, Russia produces its share microelectronics as well, but they can also use the Chinese ones to supplement the existing stock. The end result is more rockets being launched than either country would have if they work alone.

Misguided as it is during the cold war, the space race between USSR and US still served to remind us that there are so much out there and hopefully this time we will truly see the start of age of space exploration.

We don't have some heavy weight launch rockets and/or engines at the moment. Even when we have similar engines we have used Russian engines to launch commercial satellites when the prices were really friendly.

I think is another BS news from Russian again. Just like the Su-35 hoax sales. No report on Chinese counterpart and our CZ-5 is going very well. Why would Chinese want to get Russian rocket engine? Makes no sense.

Because Russian engines are world famous for their efficiency and power. Even the US imports RD 180.

Really? I still remember the massive crashed just one or 2 years ago. Chinese will import Russian rocket engine only if there is no investment in future rocket which is not truth. The YF-100 engine for CZ-5 is doing very well and pass all preliminary test with no problem. The CZ-6 boaster has already debuted last month and passed with flying colors. CZ-5 will debut end of year or early next year.

You see from the way, the russian phase their sentence with "May be agreed". I am sure it another hoax by russian journalist which try to portray Chinese interested in their rocks engine. Just like how any years we are talking about Chinese interested in Su-35 but nothing happen , only fart!

This is a definitive statement by the Russian deputy Prime Minister.

And they are recognizing mutual needs. China would like to see latest Russian rocket engines, particularly RD 180, while Russia will require microelectronics.

I don't think it is good for China, that you underestimate others.

We have many nonsense Russian high level officer bragging abt Su-35 to China which yet to see even a single letter sign after 7 years of negotiation. I think I do not need to remind you of that?

The YF-100 is ready for the Long Mach 5.

Otherwise, what is the purpose to test the Long Mach 6? Because it uses the same engine.

To be very frank, I have a very limited knowledge of rocket engines, but I have heard a lot of praise from many American sources about RD 180.

Is YF 100 that good? Maybe. Both are atleast staged combustion engines. Wikipedia gives the thrust of YF 100 to be a third that of RD 180 though. But we don't know about things like efficiency, thrust to weight ratio etc.

Because the US has abandoned the liquid oxygen/kerosene rocket engine long time ago in favor of the space shuttle, and after the retirement of the space shuttle, they depend on Russia for the rocket engine.

The Wikipedia is not a reliable source, everyone can edit it. Sometimes I use Wiki because it is a common Internet source as a reference only, but its source cannot be always dependable.

BTW, Russia is the first when it comes to the liquid oxygen/kerosene engine, China is second.

Overall, Russia is slightly ahead, but China will still stick with its domestic engine, because unlike the US, we can build our own rocket engine.

Sadly you are mistaken, the U.S. still builds its own rockets. The Russian rocket engines is cheaper. But that doesn't mean that the U.S. can't build rockets anymore.

No he's right, the US definitely cannot build rocket engines;):

Nope, no engines being built in the US:
