America's helplessness in face of an adversary who can hit back just as well is quite palpable

Cut the crap-
I am sure if the RC was in international space it would have stayed there-
Chikening out into swedish airspace illegaly means it was in violation and russia had every right to bring it down if they wanted-
Consider the US got lucky this time. Russian is not a soft spoken bear. LOL

I don't like to chest thump and boast rhetoric but it is you who needs to update yourself on the highlighted part. US does not violate our airspace at will and all drone strikes are with the coordination of Pakistan and to support operation zarba-e-Azb.
Then why did the US plane felt the need to escape the Russian fighter and violate another countries airspace (Sweden)?
Because the RC crew recognized the radar targeting signature from the MIG. I have explained many times the differences between signals on this forum. Were you asleep in class ?Then why did the US plane felt the need to escape the russian fighter and violate another countries airspace (Sweden)?
When a TV station transmit, its signals do not stop at the borders. I can have a receiver outside the borders and watch any show I want. Same thing for EM SIGINT. We did to the Chinese and we flew outside of Chinese airspace and picked up any signals available. That is why the initials SIGINT stands for: Signals Intelligence. Please sir explain to me if it did not violated the russian airspace, why was SU-27 scrambled to intercept when as per you it wasn't in the russian air space and than again the US plane violated Swedish airspace after it was denied permission to escape SU-27.
Yes, we did got lucky. The Russian pilot was a better airman than the Chinese pilot -- Hainan Incident.Consider the US got lucky this time. Russian is not a soft spoken bear. LOL

RUSSIAN JETS INTERCEPTED AND LOCKED-MISSILES ON US SPY PLANES
STOCKHOLM,August 4(RT)-US officials have confirmed Swedish media reports of a mid-July incident in which an American spy plane invaded Sweden’s airspace as it was evading a Russian fighter jet. The maverick plane was spying on Russia when it was intercepted.
The incident, which happened on July 18, went public last Wednesday after a classified document from Sweden’s Defense Ministry was leaked to the press.
The plane, a Boeing RC-135 Rivet Joint, entered Sweden’s airspace after permission to do so was denied by traffic control, Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) newspaper said. It passed from the east over the island of Gotland and flew more than 200km over 90 minutes before leaving.
The aerial incursion was caused by a Russian fighter jet, which scrambled from a base in the exclave Kaliningrad Region and approached the American reconnaissance plane.
Neither party involved in the incident confirmed or denied it, but a source in the US military told CNN on weekend that it indeed happen.
The source said the plane was conducting an electronic eavesdropping mission on the Russian military when the latter locked on to the aircraft with a radar station and sent at least one jet to intercept it. The quickest path of escape was through Swedish airspace, which was what the spy plane pilot did despite the Swedes’ objection.
There are many reports stating RC was in international Air space.
But can you explain what the hell it run ??? And run in so much hurry that it had to violate another nation's airspace !!!
Just curious ...

You do understand that this is an EM SIGINT aircraft, no ? You do understand that the RC would have the analytical capabilities to dissect any intercepted signals, no ? Crossing into Swedish airspace was the safest route possible.
What the hell happened to critical thinking ?

For any country that is the target of a SIGINT flight, it can do either nothing or send a message. That message is often a physical presence to let the spy know that he is being watched while he watches. So just because the Russian sent an interceptor, that does not mean the US violated Russian airspace. I know you are desperate to attribute the worst motive to US, but try to exercise some critical thinking.
US does violate your airspace at will - we don't seek your permission when we have to land, capture or kill terrorist you harbor. And we've been droning that country for close to 10 years
and aircraft probably banked into Swedish airspace because the Russians are unstable lately.
You do not need to have any stake in Russia to have a negative attitude about US. The fact that you assumed that we violated Russian airspace is evident of that negative attitude. Why would i be desperate to attribute the worst motive to the US? Neither am i Russian nor do i have a stake in Russia.
If our F-15s and F-22s turned on their targeting radars at nosy Russian Bear bombers, those bombers would probably dive to escape, after all we are crazy Americans. When we intercept those Russian recon flights, it is ground radars that steered our interceptors. The Russians knows it, hence their steady course. You can save the cowboy attitude for latter, for now worry more about the RC plane who just happened to save its *** from the Russians but violating Swedish airspace. It might not be that lucky in the future.

Or maybe because i was technically less informed which i have already admitted but than again you had to assume that it is only because of the negative attitude towards the US, i said so and not otherwise.
So? This is happening since the cold war days and it has now resumed again after Ukraine crisis. I specifically replied to your fellow countryman due to his hawkish attitude towards Pakistan for no reason.
If your F-15 and 22 will take down those russian bombers, Russia will have plenty of its own options to take down yours as well which is why both of you never actually went beyond than making empty threats to each other. Both countries are well aware of each other's capabilities and the fact that they can take out each other many times over. There is nothing to boast about here.

Other than we won the cold war and are the sole superpower.
You can't be a cowboy if you have no cattle and we have plenty. Don't worry about us, we can handle the Russians like we did in the cold war and won. Rather worry about your burning cesspool of a state.
New Recruit
You won the cold war BS. It was Pakistan who won the war for you in Afghanistan. As for your sole superpower status which by the way is declining fast, enjoy while you can.
We are not worried about you and neither should you be worried about us. you couldnt do jack shit to the russians if it wasnt for Pakistan. Your sole status of being a superpower was exposed when Crimea was taken from right under your nose while all your agreements and treaties with the Ukraine felt flat.
Now go and fart some place else. Stop wasting the forum bandwidth.
