Russia to supply radar for protecting nuclear power plant in Pakistan

How? They are just civillians radars for trackinh we dont even know specs and model of the radar yet.
We do, Surok is one of the Radars which Russia revealed at MAKS 2017 Air show.

The Radar is part of the layered radar system

Just one question how are we buying this the company is under US sanctions? State department of USA placed sanctions in 2017.

Surok is marketed by Rosoboroneksport

The Radar is dual use so as military wing is under US sanctions then Pakistan is buying it under civilian role so that means no missile are coming this leaves the only option that we are developing our own missile linked with this Radar.

@Major Sam this is my opinion.

Some features and specifications of Surok:

The Surok is designed to detect and track targets using a small mobile radar. In terms of performance, it is reportedly capable of detecting and tracking a target flying at 656ft (200 metres) altitude at a distance of twelve kilometres (6.4 nautical miles). Targets flying at 3,280ft (1,000m) altitude can be detected at 20km (10.7nm), and those flying at 5,000m (16,404ft) at 50km (26.9nm) range.
Its hard to trust these figures because the RCS of the target predominantly determines range, not height.

Further on: the surface clutter, signal to clutter ratio and targets radial velocity will determine it.
Height is just one part of it: As height may give clues to the angle of target with respect to surface clutter as well as the grazing angle.

by the way isrealis are majority russians - feel safe now about radar. rus/Israeli connection is tight.

If we are going for a Russian radar, than the threat from someone attacking our installations is very real. That someone is not India because India does not have that small RCS assets. Guess who has them?

By the way has it really come down to that?

if that someone wants to attack, then the can unleash 100 cruise missiles at a time. im talking about uncle sam

Some features and specifications of Surok:

"The Surok is a unique small radar designed to detect low-altitude aircraft (gliders, helicopters, planes, drones) in the close responsibility zone.

The rationale behind Surok’s development was to design a mobile radar that provides 360º protection for critical infrastructure. Although there are several, deployable military products which can perform such a function, RTI Systems’ radar intends to provide this protection using a lower-cost approach."
Correct. This is inner most layer of Protection and we have multiple type of different system of different origin and it make almost impossible to over come with all of them.

MOSCOW, August 30. /TASS/. Russia will supply a civilian radar station to Pakistan to protect facilities of the nuclear power plant in Karachi, the press office of RTI hi-tech company said on Thursday.

"A memorandum of cooperation in the field of organizing the delivery of the civilian radar Surok was signed at the Army-2018 international military and technical forum between RTI Group and the Pakistani company TechWin Enterprise. The radar is set to control and protect the Karachi NPP’s facilities, and also some other installations of Pakistan’s critically important infrastructure," the press office said.

Both sides also agreed on exploring the possibilities of implementing joint projects in radiolocation and information systems in the interests of various ministries and departments of Pakistan.

RTI Group also held negotiations at the Army-2018 forum with China Electronics Corporation (CEC). Both sides agreed on opening joint R&D and experimental design works for creating new products and technologies, and also modernizing the Russian equipment earlier supplied to China.

"A delegation from Vietnam got interested in the RTI’s competences and experience in situational centers for creating national environmental crisis management centers in that country. The Indian partners were shown the possibilities of civilian projects in the field of information and communication technologies," the press office said.

The Army-2018 international military and technical forum was held in Kubinka near Moscow on August 21-26.

What specially it offers which we can not buy from other friendly nation's for nuclear site protection??

There is no immediate real threat from anyone at the moment, besides Radar only detects not protects, if there was a real threat as you stated, then they would be buying SAM systems.
