Arihanth is a SSBN , and this is a SSN..
This sub is being leased to train the sailors so that when the Arihanth class and the Next class of SSBNs and SSNs are inducted, we have enough trained manpower to run them.. Plus AKULA-II is one of the best hunter killer sub in the world..
Another thing the under the table transfer in India-Russia deals are much more than what is reported..So, nobody can guess what else we are getting with this..

Arihant can not always be on prowl...It have to come back to the dock...b/w this is latest and greatest of the subs out there is going to help us in immensely - both in terms of experience and technical know how...

Nerpa is on a LEASE. THE idea is to familiarize IN with nuclear sub operation and environment. It is not possible to sell nuke subs in international market that easily... almost impossible. However, leasing is not a problem. Arihants will be the center of nuclear sub operations for our navy. Nerpa just gives the feel and trains Navy personnel.

That's applicable even for Nerpa as well. Nuclear fuel can last very long but human limitations means the subs have to dock once a while to replenish supplies.

Nah. They're signatories of MTCR. We're building our own. Sagarika is one of them in the pipeline being tested. So is Shaurya and a few more called the K-family of submarine based ballistic missiles.

These are complex technologies, You get trained from the country which manufactures them, or its just not worth it....China is building Aircraft carriers, why does it have to send its Personnels to Ukraine for training?? Just for the simple fact that, learn to operate from those who have been into it..

ssn = a Missile Boat for Tactical Purpose. Attack Subarine.. Generally Carries Cruize Missiles ( Like Tomahawk ) & Torpedos , Even Commandos Example : USS Virginia , Akula

ssbm = a Stratagic Sub, Mainly for Second Strike, Carries Long Range Ballistic Missiles called SLBMs , Example : USS Ohio , Carries Trident II SLBM and Borei Class whch will Carry Bulava Missile , Range over 12,000 KM

The Indian Arihant Will Carry K15 SLBM Range = 1000KM or K4, Range = 3500 KM
In Future Agni V SLBM , Range = 5500-6000 KM
