Russia starts implementing $4.3bn arms contract with Iraq

Russia has started implementation of a multibillion dollar arms deal with Iraq signed in 2012, the Iraqi government said. Moscow is to supply over 10 fully-armed and equipped Mi-28NE Night Hunter attack helicopters to Iraq under a $4.3 billion agreement on cooperation in the defense and technology sector. The contract provides for the delivery of weaponry mainly for anti-terrorist operations

Well the choppers already in the Iraqi gov hands this just the beginning.

Nop, the 4,3 billion for the choppers and air defense system plus something else they didn't announce it yet?. now the coppers include 34 MI-28 + 6 MI-35 + numbers of the ka-52. so there is something they never announce it yet that could be some MiG or SU fighters future will tell us more.

This shipment is most likely for the 800 KORNET E missiles ordered by Iraq.

MI 35’s should be delivered this month as well, the newest version.

24 Apaches are a request, the Obama administration agrees on the deal but congress is showing resistance that’s why it is taking longer, Maliki will visit the US soon to negotiate.

Iraq also requested Russia for fast attack craft ( missile boats ) for the navy but they denied interests in selling us these as Iran would not like it since they are their closer friend neither would the US sell us that as GCC would not like it again their closer friend.

Fast attack craft can be bought from France or Italy, they’d supply especially France, maybe Exocet missiles as Iraq used in the past succesfully on USS stark from Mirages but these long range missiles being used in the gulf often ended up hitting neutrals so it’s probably better to have short range ~10 km torpedos on the fast attack craft.

That’s not my view or opinion but the opinion of DJ eliott ex US military Iraqi military analyst so his knowledge in this field is bigger then ours.

Fast attack craft for the navy have anti ship missiles with a big range usually around 180-200 KM, the only navies Iraq could target with that is Iran’s and GCC’s, so why would these 2 be happy about such news or even welcome it ? Therefor, Russia and USA’s stance.

This same report stated that the Russians have no intention of

I told you this is the opinion of DJ eliott, this above is obvious something they could not care about, Russia does not care what Iraq needs they just like to sell and make money.

Talks contine about raising the deal to 8 billion dollars with Russia.
