ISLAMABAD - Russian company has showed its interest to invest in the small hydropower, coal power generation projects and to develop transmission lines in Pakistan.
This was said by Maxim Sergeev of M/s Inter Rao UES, leader of the Russian delegation who called on the Federal Minister for Water and Power, Syed Naveed Qamar here today to discuss the investment opportunities in the power sector in Pakistan.
The delegation also expressed that the company produces and sells electric energy as well as engineers, designs and builds generating assets. The company has vast experience in hydro power, coal power generation and transmission lines manufacturing equipments and interested to invest in these sectors. The company also informed regarding its expertise to develop and run the Low BTU gas power plant. The leader of the delegation also said that they will identify the projects for investment.
The Minister for Water and Power, Syed Naveed Qamar appreciated the Russian delegation for their interest in the power sector and said that government will facilitate foreign investors in all respect. Pakistan is energy deficit country and the Russian investment will help to meet the future power requirements.
He said that special incentives are also being planned to attract the investment in the power sector. He highlighted that upfront tariff based on various technologies and fuel is being announced in order to facilitate the investors. He briefed the delegation on the investment opportunities available in the private power generation.
