Russia opens military service centers in Sri Lanka

Russia plans to open maintenance centers in Sri Lanka to service Russian-made military equipment, a Rosoboronexport high-ranking official said.

Viktor Komardin, Rosoboronexport’s deputy general director, made a statement to this effect at an international arms exhibition in Malaysia.

Russia has supplied Sri Lanka with four Mi-17 helicopters, two infantry vehicles and 19 armored personnel carriers last year.

Sri Lanka received US$300 million to purchase 14 helicopters.
