What's new

Russia may ban car imports if West applies new sanctions, report says

Hmm they have been doing pretty good for 80 years without selling many to Russia or China. Big sales is only a very recent development.

Yeah when the market in EU was good, now with the economic conditions in EU,Foreign sales will make a big part of that companies portfolio

Germanys entire economy is based on their auto industry. And Germany is the most powerful member of the EU. Putin and his people are brilliant. I mean they knew exactly the right pressure point to squeeze. Germany cant affor to lose Russian markets, not even for one year. Their economy is the only thing propping up the eu. No other country in the eu really has anything anybody wants or needs. If Germany starts to slip, it will cause a domino effect that will devastate the eu economy. While Russia buys Asian cars and China gets a gdp boost.

In the mean time

I mean they cant even deny it themselves. Putin is a Grand Master Strategist and he just sonned all of Nato without firing one shot.

You havent the slightest notion what you are talking about. In order for Germany to maintain its current position ( even though its already started to slip because of heavy asian competition ) they need ever increasing markets. They cant afford a market as large as Russia to slip away. Not even for one quarter. This threat doesnt need anymore threats. The germans will not risk it. Even if herr merkel would agree, the business interests that put her in power would never allow it.

Yep, our goal is not to ruin the German economy, but to bring them onto the table for the negotiation.

The German/Russian relationship is important for Eurasian economic integration.

When they'll start driving all those Russian/Chinese cars, @Fukuoka will have hourly updates in the "Accidents in Russia" thread. It will be the blame of NATO JEW ofcourse.

EU cannot afford a full trade war with the Russians.

Pffft, tough words, but nothing to back it up. Romania is a small country of what? Some 237,000 square kilometers? No high technology. No heavy industry. The EU's backbone is Germany. Romania is nothing but a fringe in the EU. Heck, nobody even thinks about Romania when talking about the EU. The EU has always been about Germany, and to a much lesser extent Britain and France, the other 2 of the big 3 powers of Europe.

Other than Dracula, what else does Romania have to show for?

While the Russians are threatening to ban car import from the West, the Russkies are happily having military drills with China in China, and receiving welcomes by the Chinese beauties.

Russian soldiers are welcomed as they arrive at the train station of the Zhurihe training base, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Aug 16, 2014. The first Russian army echelon on Saturday arrived at the Zhurihe training base, where "Peace Mission-2014," a drill under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) framework, will run from Aug 24 to Aug 29. The drill, which will involve over 7,000 personnel from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, is expected to hone multilateral decision-making, sharpen joint anti-terror efforts and boost intelligence sharing to ensure regional peace and stability.[Photo/Xinhua]

hahaha you do realize that russian imports are mostly energy, you would have to replace it with oil and gas from muslim countries which are more expensive to ship then pipeline energy

The Russians have targeted the weaker EU countries that agreed to sanctions by cutting off the agricultural imports. Weaker EU countries only export agriculture. They don't have high-tech industries like Germany and France.

Russia first targeted the weak EU countries by banning agriculture.
Next will be targeting the stronger EU countries by banning auto imports.

Germany is extremely reliant on the auto, machinery and chemical industries.

The next step for Russia will be to ban EU services companies.

Russia has the largest population in the entire European continent and with that comes a large and fast growing consumer market which EU companies will be shut out of and give the advantage to their Asian rival companies.

Russia should take this opportunity to reform and develop their own industries to become self-sufficient.

Russia has BMW, Honda, Hyundai, Audi, Ford, Chevy, Mercedes, porsche, Volkswagen, Saab, Fiat, Nissan, Range Rover, Bentley and many, many more manufacturers.

Russia can target just one or a handful of manufacturers. The shock in the stock market as well as sales losses will cause major losses for the companies as well as the economies of those countries that manufacture those vehicles.
