On July 8, VKS amusing missile troops celebrate 60 years from the date of formation. “Starting this year, the S-350 Vityaz air defense missile system begins to enter the troops,” said Babakov.
According to him, the S-350 system is intended for the defense of administrative and political centers, the most important facilities and regions of the country, troop groups from massed strikes of aerospace attacks, including cruise missiles, tactical and operational tactical ballistic missiles.
“The range of destruction of targets – up to 120 km, the height of destruction – up to 25 km, the speed of the affected targets – up to 2500 m / s. During the tests, the specified characteristics of the system are confirmed by successful launches of anti-aircraft guided missiles at ballistic targets, targets at maximum and minimum ranges, low altitude targets imitating cruise missiles,” said Babakov.
He clarified that the main features of the S-350 system are increased ammunition of anti-aircraft guided missiles (SAM) and increased fire performance due to the use of SAM with an active homing head.

The Vityaz S-350 anti-aircraft missile systems will occupy a place in the echelon defense system of Russia between the S-400 and Buk-M3. About this FBA “Economics Today” said a military expert Alexei Leonkov on January 4 this year.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that the first set of anti-aircraft missile system S – 350 Vityaz will be delivered to the duty station in January of the coming year. The department of Sergei Shoigu previously said that this is the newest air defense system in the first place will go to the air defense training center in the Leningrad region. In all likelihood, the plans of the command have changed – in parallel, the “Knights” will be sent both to the specialized educational institutions of the army and to combat units.
“The Russian command has been waiting for the entry of the S-350 into the troops for a long time – there was originally reserved its own place for these systems,” the specialist notes. air, whether it’s an airplane, missiles or something else, they work out long-range interception systems, trying to destroy the target at distant approaches.

If this fails, a second cannon echelon, working on targets at a closer distance, is connected. If he does not completely eliminate the threat, a third type of weapon will remove it at close range. At the same time, the target is continuously “guided” by radars and “transmitted” to various echelons of the common system for guaranteed interception. Ideally, there should not be a distance gap – as soon as one train is completed, the next one is connected immediately. In practice, it’s a little different.
S-350 system
In December 2019, the press service of the Almaz-Antey concern, which developed the complex, announced the transfer of the first set of the complex to the Armed Forces.
At the beginning of this year, he entered the training center of anti-aircraft missile troops of the Military Academy of Aerospace Defense named after Marshal of the Soviet Union G.K. Zhukov, where he is developing and preparing a training base for the training of military specialists.
Earlier, the commander of the VKS Colonel-General Sergei Surovikin reported that the supply of the S-350 Vityaz anti-aircraft missile system to the troops will allow four times to increase the efficiency of the reflection of massive attacks by cruise missiles.
The S-350 Vityaz system was developed in the interests of military air defense with a maximum target radius of 60 km and a maximum height of 30 km. The complex is designed to combat both aerodynamic and ballistic targets. One launcher of the complex is armed with 12 anti-aircraft missiles.
