Russia, India Discuss Cooperative Human Spaceflight | AVIATION WEEK
By Staff

India and Russia are continuing their longstanding cooperation in space with top-level talks on possible human missions.

Meeting in Moscow this week, Anatoly Perminov, head of the Russian space agency Roscosmos, and D. Radhakrishnan, chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), discussed ways Roscosmos and RSC Energia — builder of Russia’s Soyuz spacecraft — could help India’s nascent human spaceflight effort.

Also on the agenda was shipment of more Russian upper stage engines for India’s Geostationary Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) while ISRO engineers figure out why the all-Indian cryogenic engine failed its first flight test, and plans for Russia to supply a lander for the Chandrayaan-2 lunar mission. Both agency heads brought their department directors and industry representatives.

As always, we and the Russians converge on this point as well :)

I think India can take part in the development of new generation manned spacecraft. The modular structure of the spacecraft provides an opportunity for cooperation. By analogy with the international space station, various modules can be developed and produced in different countries. Modules launched separately and assembled in orbit into long as train spacecraft to work in orbit or Lagrange point or a flight to the Moon, Mars, etc.

Since for long-distance flights need to create many modules for different purposes, one country is difficult to solve this problem.

In the past century was developed a universal container that changed the rules of world trade. In this century will be developed universal space module, which determines the standard of shipbuilding in space. Spaceships, space stations and planetary bases will be built from similar modules. At the assembly stage it will be orbiting station. At the stage of flight - spaceship. At the final stage of flight the spacecraft will be split into an orbital part, and landing part. From the landing part will be built base and returnable part.
