Russia has offered to sell crude oil to Bangladesh

.
Those are countries with far greater influence and diplomatic power. BD needs to probe first whether we would be able to get away with it just like India, EU or China. If we can then by all means we should do it. But if our exports are affected we should not. Besides I am not sure how much storage capacity we have. If we had say 6 months of storage capacity we could buy and store and save heaps of money. If we don't then it's not going to be very beneficial.
Countries with greater influence does it mean EU can treat country according to different standard based on your wealth and economy? What happened to those EU bragging about their values and their high moral standard?

BD shall not bow to EU indifferent treatment over this sanction and stand for their right! BD shall used the China card to warn EU such sanction will only fully push BD to China/Russia Camp.

You ask them about their moral, not me. What I can say is they are hypocrites.

No, BD can't pull the China card. There is no China card to pull given our specific circumstances. We can't redirect our exports to China that we send to Europe or America.
Also to clarify we in BD do not really subscribe to one ideology or other, be in one camp or other. We have no iron brothers and we know there can't be any iron brothers in politics. It's a dog eat dog world and we only need to focus on our specific interests. In the current political climate of the world, buying Russian oil and gas while we are dependent on EU for our exports fails a cost-benefit analysis test. It's not a wise move and we shouldn't do it and shoot ourselves on the foot to enable someone else to score points against their enemies. They can do it all they want but not at our expense. It's not our fight.

I would respect BD if they buy oil/gas from Russia. Russia is not Bangladesh enemy and they have the right to buy from whom they want. Pakistan doesn't dare to build the gas pipeline from Iran, never mind buying from Russia.

You should respect BD if it buys or not buy based on a cost benefit analysis, that is a determination whether buying or not buying suits our greater interest or not. We as a developing country are not in a position to make morality statement to the world. We are trying to make ends meet and hopefully improve our country further. The US/EU and Russia can make one morality statement or the other against each other. It's their fight, they can do it. It's not our fight.

In that case we can try to enter an agreement with Russia to buy 1 year worth of oil at discounted rate and have them supplied every month and pay them on a monthly basis.
Since we can't refine shit (Eastern Refinery aside), we can request China to buy cheap Russian crude, refine and re-sell to BD at little profit. We can pay China in Yuans and isolate the West from the process completely.

China needs to do a lot more to shield BD from Western sanctions. CCP should direct Chinese companies that are looking to outsource low cost manufacturing to treat BD as a priority destination - this will reduce Bangladesh's reliance on the West for foreign currency.

Refineries are built as crude oil type specific, you just can't use a different grade of crude oil without reconfiguring the refinery.
