Russia confirms Yak-130 sale to Bangladesh
James Hardy, London - IHS Jane's Defence Industry
27 January 2014
Bangladesh signed an order for 24 Yakovlev Yak-130 'Mitten' advanced jet trainer/light fighter aircraft in late 2013, the CEO of Russia's state arms export agency said in an interview on 27 January 2014.

Rosoboronexport CEO Anatoly Isaykin told the Kommersant newspaper that Bangladesh had paid for the aircraft with part of a USD1 billion loan provided by Moscow. News agency RIA Novosti reported that deliveries are due to start in 2015.

Rosoboronexport originally revealed the Yak-130 order at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) exhibition in March 2013. The aircraft will replace the Aero Vodochody Aerospace L-39 Albatros advanced trainer in Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) service.

time for some defense news :crazy_pilot:

. .
Was expecting this news, now looking forward to the selection of next generation fighter by 2017/18. Looks like it's gonna be either the MIG35, SU30 or J10a/b as front runners with a possible J31 if we delay purchase to 2020, when that fighter looks to be available.

Ideally our long term solution would be:

24 basic intermediate trainers
24 advanced trainers light attack ac to replace the l39s and q5s
36/44 advanced fighters to replace / augment the early generation mig 21s, f7s and mig 29s

Congratulations Bangladesh. You made the right choice. Russia is a reliable supplier and partner.

Congratulations are really due to India which makes such decisions for the BAL stooge. Russia is not a reliable supplier or partner. BAF will switch over to Chinese once these Mir Jafars are expelled.
