Russia and Israel engage in military exercises in Syrian skies

Israel must be crying deep inside after the merciless bombings of their terrorists allies by Russia.

In my opinion the Israelis are stepping in to cooperate with Russia in exchange for keeping the Hezbollah and the IRGC far away from their borders.

At least the Russians are being consistent. Under UNSC Resolution 1701, Clause 15 -

"all States shall take the necessary measures to prevent...arms and related materiel of all types, including weapons and ammunition, military vehicles and equipment...[including] any technical training or assistance" -

to any entity or individual in Lebanon not authorized by the Lebanese government, i.e. Hezbollah. Of course the Russians, as permanent veto-wielding members of the UNSC, approved.

The language and formulation of UNSCR 1701 is tortuous - probably by design - but imo the upshot is that States don't need the authorization of the governments of Lebanon or Syria to transit Lebanese or Syrian skies and waters to attack Hezbollah supply lines and equipment. I pointed this out almost immediately after UNSCR 1701 was adopted and while the U.N. and Lebanon denied this was its meaning that's probably a face-saving gesture as the record shows they've faithfully adhered to this interpretation for the past nine years.

Israel is making sure Russia won't stand in our way when we need to bomb another Hezbullah's convoy.

If they want to play like this , their fighters will fall from sky and their troops will get killed .... they are there to play according of plan not to make another problem for us ...
