In what way do you define powerful? How do you measure power? Russian electronics warfare can’t be measured, yet it is powerful enough to render aircraft useless. Do we count air defenses as well? What about trained personnel? Do we count planning and strategy? What about any undeclared weapons? What about ballistic missiles or heavy ground armor based at these bases?

That story is confirmed many names of dead Russians with pics are published.

Su-34 has Platan targeting system. It is not a pod. It is mounted in the fuselage.

T220 pod is developed from Platan, basically Platan in a pod. Multi role jets like Su-35 and Su-30 don't have fuselage mounted targeting like Su-34 strike jets do, so they use pod when they do strike.

Platan and its pod derivative T220 have FLIR. Even Kornet has FLIR and that's from the 1990s. Mi-28N from the 2000s have FLIR too. Su-34 is a 2014 plane. It's the newest.
