refer to my post#97 here...
i still feel it was rebuilt on a temple.
Yeah, I give it a 50-50 chance. I am willing to believe and also willing to question all assertions. Let's see.

One thing is certain - IT IS NOT A MAUSOLEUM. :) Mumtaz is not even buried there.

Levina you too?

You know taking vernacular and regional inspiration is a must to keep the subjectivity of context alive in architecture. There is no proof yet it's just a WhatsApp gimmick.
There is no proof and there is no lack of proof either.

The previous such case was made way back in the 70s but it was never admitted. This investigation was long due. Let the doors be opened. In any case the Taj will remain where it is. Only our perceptions may alter a bit here and there.

How does it matter what it is! In a few billion years the Sun will expand and engulf the Earth during its death throes! All that we are fighting over will be evaporated.

Even that does not matter. I am pretty sure, in a few 100 years muslims nor hindues will exist as it does now.

I have already said that its like ISIS destroying old relics and statues...after 4 or 5 centuries nobody is gonna believe that Buddhists lived in Afghan and Iraq.
Many temples were rebuilt into mosques in the past and Taj mahal could be one of them.

My previous post comparing Angor-wat and Taj Mahal should not be misconstrued into supporting RSS in the transfer of Taj mahal's ownership. Let Taj mahal be what it is, but we can have some archaeologists look deeper into this issue (though i believe that even if they find any links to an old temple, it would not revealed to the outside world due to the fear of disturbing the secular fibre of India).

Taj Photo

Stones for anchoring boats. On the North side of the Taj Mahal, there is a platform 3 ft 6 inches wide and it runs for the entire length. The platform also has embedded into it several stone rings for anchoring boats. In the photo we can see two such stones, one in the lower right front corner, the other further up the stream. This shows that the building was planned for facilitating boats for river transportation for the residents in the Taj. Again, these are not something you would need for a quiet or even vacant grave site.

Your last sentence is true. Hence the court is being brought in. Separate from the ASI.

In any case, the Afghans and other Central Asian people DON'T believe they were anything but Muslim. The loss of Bamiyan is a non issue in Afghanistan. Imagine the amount of money India spends to keep Agra relatively free of pollution - just so that the color of the Taj remains white(valid reason though).

You really belive INTACH have not done anything all these years?

Hindu architecture influence is significantly there. But these shiva temple myth are stupid.

Also you are right the value of a coin. Is not determined by its age alone but it's story and significance. That's the first class of archeology.

You know Hindu temple are found all the way till Iran. Even block region had some brahma temples. There is also found some Indian rock cut architecture in middle east and Africa.

You know why we always doubt the remains of Hindu architecture???

Hindu architecture for most times was timber based. Stone came very late. So we hardly see remains. Rather most people in profession see Indian influence in Japanese. Where reincarnation of subject not object is imp.
India never be lived in permanence of its structure. Just like budhism.

Nope I dont believe this!
I am quoting angor-wat's example again, its a hindu shiva temple and its foundation is stone.Add to it that it was built centuries before Taj mahal.

Are you joking?

In fact it was hardly timber based. Granite and or marble was the choice of materials.

Taj Photo

We are now outside the Cenotaph Chamber. Note how the steps in plain marble break up the designs on the plinth wall. This means that they are not original.

Certainly. You are not eligible to be one.

A simple glance through this - Hindu temple - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia should give you enough hints.

The Buddhists Viharas were also there and let's not forget the Ajanta, Ellora complexes, the Konark Sun temple, Khajurao, Somnath, Martand... the list is endless.

On topic, @levina - your assertion is interesting. Let's see what comes out of this.
