The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have arrived for a meeting with the Aga Khan in London.

Kate, 37, looked typically elegant in a £825 floor-length dress as she joined her husband Prince William, 37, for the engagement with the Muslim spiritual leader at the Aga Khan Centre in King's Cross this morning.

The couple are being hosted by the Aga Khan, 82, at an event to showcase modern Pakistani culture ahead of their official visit to the country later this month.

The duke and duchess are due to carry out a royal tour of Pakistan from October 14 to 18.

The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton attended an event hosted by Prince Karim Aga Khan at the Aga Khan Centre in London on Tuesday, where she wore a deep green dress styled with matching ceramic drop earrings by our very own Pakistani clothing and accessories brand, Zeen.

Images spoke to Zeen, a brand started five years ago and managed by Cambridge, about how it happened.

"We were honoured and incredibly humbled to learn that the Duchess of Cambridge chose Zeen earrings to stylise her look at the event, in advance of her visit to Pakistan," said Rabia, a spokesperson for Zeen.

"It is a joy to see this being appreciated by the Duchess' choice."


"Our focus is on providing high quality products and true value to our customers and it is a joy to see this being appreciated by the Duchess' choice of our accessories."

This isn't the first time the Duchess has opted for an affordable, international label (the Zeen earrings cost just $8!); Middleton regularly shops on the high-street, which usually means products sell out within minutes. It's been called the Kate Effect — and the same happened for the Zeen earrings. They're no longer available on the site, but we've been told they'll be restocked soon.

"[Kate] represents and always opts to wear affordable and stylish apparel or accessories that are within everyone’s reach, so we're assuming our accessories suited her style, she liked our affordable price points and at the same time [it] represents something from Pakistan."

Was the brand contacted for a special order or collaboration? Rabia says no; the earrings were likely chosen by the Duchess' stylist. "But it’s nice to know that our website is reaching an international audience."

The earrings are no longer available on the site, but will be restocked soon.


Zeen is run by directors Sadaf Saya and Aisha Naviwala (who are also sisters). "Being a brand run by women, it's a good feeling to know we connect with resilient women around the world," said Rabia.

"Zeen, as a brand, has always stood for women of substance."

The ensemble was more modest than even demure Kate typically wears, suggesting it might have been chosen out of respect for her Muslim host.

The Duchess finished the look with a pair of towering green suede heels and matching green suede clutch bag.

She added a pretty pair of green earrings by Pakistani brand Zeen, which complimented the green shadow brushed across her eyes.

The Kensington Palace announced the news via social media (what a time to be alive!)

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are packing their bags to head to Pakistan!

Kensington Palace announced via social media (what a time to be alive!) that Prince William and Kate Middleton "will undertake an official visit to Pakistan this autumn, at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office".

Further details will be advised in due course, they added.

This mark's the couple first visit to our country though other members of the royal family have been here before; on their Instagram, they continued that "Her Majesty The Queen visited Pakistan in 1961 and 1997, and The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visited in 2006.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner in London welcomed the announcement.

“The upcoming Royal Visit is a reflection of the importance the United Kingdom attaches to its relations with Pakistan. The two countries enjoy historical links which both sides wish to strengthen further,” said Mohammad Nafees Zakaria.

Go to London and just look at hundreds if not thousands of people there to see Buckingham Palace. Look at how much free press the entire family gets throughout the entire world. The amount of money and PR earned by the UK makes whatever they are given worth it.

Besides, I think visits like these are paid for out of their own pockets. People often forget that the royal family is incredibly rich even without the title, thanks to all their land and estates.

The Duchess of Cambridge revealed she is a fan of spicy food while William let slip he was looking forward to tucking in local cuisine when they visit Pakistan later this month. Wills and Kate will fly to Pakistan of October 14, here’s the latest FCO advise on travel in the region.

Kensington Palace confirmed in June that Wills and Kate will visit Pakistan for a four-day trip from October 14 to October 18.

The tour will mark the first time royal family members have visited the nation since 2006.

While security in Pakistan has improved significantly in recent years a terrorist attack in Pulwama last February heightened tensions in the region.

Is it safe to travel to Pakistan?
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) currently advises Britons against travelling to certain areas of Pakistan.

The latest FCO travel information advises against all travel to:

• The areas in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province formerly known as the Federally Administered Tribal Areas
• The districts of Charsadda, Kohat, Tank, Bannu, Lakki, Dera Ismail Khan, Swat, Buner and Lower Dir in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
• The city of Peshawar and districts south of the city, including travel on - the Peshawar to Chitral road via the Lowari Pass northern and western Balochistan Province
• Travel on the Karakoram Highway between Islamabad and Gilgit the immediate vicinity of the Line of Control

• The Kalesh Valley, the Bamoboret Valley and Arandu District to the south and west of Chitral in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
• The city of Quetta
• Areas of Sindh Province north of, and including, the city of Nawabshah

According to the FCO there were an estimated 484,000 visits by British nationals to Pakistan in 2018 and most visits are trouble-free.

Britons travelling to Pakistan are advised to check with their airline for the latest information on the status of their flight before travelling to the airport.

Ahead of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridges Pakistan trip, High Commissioner for Pakistan to the United Kingdom, Mohammad Nafees Zakaria, said it would “strengthen” historical links between England and Pakistan.

In a statement, he said: “The Government and the people of Pakistan warmly welcome the announcement of the Royal Visit by Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Pakistan this year.”
