Rohingya news, updates

Bangladeshi action so far has been shameful
Yes, if by shameful you mean taking in 21 thousands of them as refugees since this latest escalation.

Rohingya are not totally innocent either. When British India invaded Burma, they used Bangladeshi soldiers who sympathize with the local rohingya since they are ethically the same, pass them weapons and they massacred the local Buddhist Rakhines burned their temple drove them away.

Yes, as did the Rakhaines & burmese with Japanese help.

And there was no Bangladesh during ww2. The communal riot was instigated by the Colonial Administration of Indian subcontinent for obvious reasons.

Killing & butchering innocent peoples, because their ancestors killed each others hundreds years ago is simply disgusting. So is justifying it. If you can't stop doing it, seek help ; visit a Psychologist.

The Rohingyas even wanted Rakhine to be incorporated into India.

So?
Just because they wanted to be the part of a different country is enough reason to kill them?

Do I have to remind you that Arakan was independent nation till the last part of the 17'th century also part of the Bengal presidency & British mandate in India & burma?
Do you understand the legal implications?
It's in simple words, it was fully in their legal right as part of the British mandate, to choose between two parts of the mandate. It was in their right to do so.

Every people regardless of their cast, creed, color, ethnicity, nation has the right of self determination. Using it to justify genocide on them is horribly disgusting.

Then your post about the perceived incident is quite meaningless in this thread which is about the present ethnic cleansing of Rohingyas.
The first step to solving the Rohingyas problem is to first recognize the waves of immigrations of overcrowded Bangladeshi to the sparsely populated Rakhine province.
Both sides must understand each sides grievances. If you deny Rohingyas origins and history, how do you expect the Rakhines to do so. Bare in mind, these days with Muslim jihadis and IS running rampant, there is little sympathy for Muslims even in the West.

Please hold your horses and stop giving history lessons to everyone. First of all west respect ISIS more than any one as ISIS is the best ally of USA and NATO. ISIS is working under the command of Israel and so on now come to the problem of Burma. Burma has been a target of the west due to it ties with nations not friendly to USA means Russia and China and they use different methods to ignite civil wars in countries by bring unrest to minorities but nothing can justify the killing of civilians but instead other methods should have been used. History and past cannot jusifty the present killings as Burma is a one nation and this matter should be solved politically. USA has infiltrated the political system through Aung San Suu Kyi and most probably it is an act of USA (using Aung San Suu Kyi) to kill Rohingyas and find a reason to take over Myanmar to make base in the area for China's activity in south china sea.

Can you please reinstate the thread "Ethnic cleansing of Rohingyas"? It was deliberately created as a separate thread to gather all the information on human rights violations of the Rohingyas.

Another thread was created to assemble all the international reactions to the Rohingya issue. Both the threads were created separately to have a clear idea on the topic since amassing everything into a single thread won't show the exact picture.

Hasina says the government cannot open the border for Rohingyas on a large scale as it is the matter of two sovereign countries
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that her government is very much sympathetic towards the Rohingyas, but hard against the culprits, who want to use Bangladesh’s land against neighbours.

“Bangladesh has already allowed many distressed Myanmar nationals to enter its territory amid recent trouble in Myanmar but under no circumstances Bangladesh will allow any criminals responsible for recent attacks on the Myanmar Army and border guards [that left nine dead],” she told parliament yesterday.

In reply to a question from Jatiya Party lawmaker Fakhrul Imam, Hasina said: “Bangladesh’s soil will not be allowed to use for any subversive activities against our neighbours.”

She said that her government had been giving all possible supports, including food, shelter and medical facilities, to the Rohingyas fleeing Myanmar. “But we cannot open our gate for their influx on a large scale as it is the matter of two sovereign countries.”

Hasina said that the Foreign Ministry had already summoned the Myanmar envoy in Dhaka and asked him to refrain from creating any situation which would aggravate the situation.

“We have taken all steps which we should do. We are careful about both humanity and discouraging any subversive activities in the neighbouring country,” she said.

The prime minister said that the government had asked the border guards and intelligence agencies to trace the culprits responsible for the recent attacks on the border guard police and the army in Myanmar.

These culprits are responsible for the current unrest in Myanmar and putting thousands of people into troubles. “We have to find out whether any of those culprits has taken shelter inside our territory. They will be handed over to the Myanmar authorities soon after arrest,” she told parliament.

According to IOM Bangladesh, an estimated 21,000 Rohingyas arrived in Cox’s Bazar between October 9 and December 2 to escape violence in Myanmar.

In September, Hasina told Myanmar State Councillor Aung San Suu Kyi that the Rohingya issue should be solved by the two next-door neighbours after the latter sought her help.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal recently said that the Rohingyas who had entered Bangladesh recently must go back to Myanmar.

Bangladesh has two registered and several unofficial Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar whereas some 300,000-500,000 undocumented Rohingyas are living in the country illegally. The government claims that many of the Rohingyas are involved in crimes and militant activities.

The government is communicating with the international community and urging them to take strong position against oppression on the Rohingya people.

Earlier, more than 100 people were killed in violence in Rakhine and some 125,000 Rohingyas took refuge in camps for internally displaced persons while several thousand others entered Bangladesh to save their life in 2012.
