I strongly beileve this is due to the very normal behavior found in third world countries> official abusing their power, thinking they are above the law. With an increasing image of Indian around the globe the official seems to reciprocating the desi behaviour sadly

Like @Levina said most of the thread about India is meant to criticise India .
But I would totally agree with you here.
There is a say in our language 'Alpan Artham kandal Artharathriyum kudapidikkum' means
a poor greedy guy will use umbrella even in midnight if he sees some increase in his wealth.
Same happens here .
Our sports sector is totally dominated by some useless civil service guys that even dont know
the basics of the sports.
We need professionals here not some hypernationalist and jingoism.
Had they spend some half of their junket for the training of athelets we would have been in that top 5 of medal rank

Reading the names of the sports officials and I can very confidently say on their behalf "tu jaanta nahin mera baap kaun hein" (loosely translated as 'you don't know who my father is'. A phrase used mostly in one of India's famous cities.. Need I say more?

cricket is played only by 10 countries or so. If it was played for 80 countries like football we would be in bottom of pit cheering for tendulkar. All the cricket boards in India including infamous BCCI and state boards are run by politicians.
Money and fame can get you some luxurious life or attention nothing more not the bloody respect of winning in olymbpics.


Tell me why ppl applaud when some one gets a first rank in all india exam like IAS. Bcos its merit and unbiased competition. So is olympics , when you win a medal its not simply the athlete who competes its entire country who competes against other countries selection process,encouragement, attitude ,training,its society ..etc. If 1 billion ppl cannot produce a medal it talks volumes about our system. China makes it happen,sri lanka does it better but india...

Money is just one part , just think of infamy of becoming largest importer when we pay $7 billion to import fighter planes. Try putting 100million dollars and see whether you get a medal, all you will get is pathetic excuses and junk trips by politicians.
