So, both Serbia teams defeated both Australian teams in basketball............
....................................Their men team trashed Australia.......they are using the bench with 3 minutes remaining and still with 22 points lead, I am sad....Tho they are a lot better than the Australian.

Actually quite a bad couple of weeks for Aussie sports not just the below than expected performance in the Olympics, The Cricket team just got white washed in Sri Lanka 3 - 0 and the Wallabies had their arses handed over to them by the All blacks just now in the Bledisloe Cup.. I have a feeling even the Argies will beat the Wallabies to the bottom of the Rugby Championship this year.. The lack of debt in the team is quite glaring

You mean the basketball game or other sports?
Basketball is expected to lose, the Serbian wasn't in good form in the group match, and the Australian were in superb form coming into the group game, and today, the Serbian play what they played to get into the 2014 WC game. The only thing I did not count is that Australia play really bad today....
Don't know about rugby tho

Sports in general have seen major setbacks this year.. From a nation that put a lot of emphasis as a strong sporting nation thats a disappointment

Well, we just have not push hard enough, you see we actually improved in some of the field like Catherine Skinner who won the Skeet and Chloe Esposito won the Modern Pentathlon.
Other sport we aren't just doing good enough, we should have won the Rugby game in the Olympics and more swimming gold. We also got let down in the world swimming championship, need to do better in Pan Pac.

Poms beat you aussies pretty badly again overall....I remember back when aussies would lord over them saying yer bigger but we still win way more medals than you etc etc...

My idea is best i.e. we all train together for extended periods. We devote £400 million pounds a year to sport now, and athletes who have to our national training centres have been amazed at our world class facilities. Each sport has its own centre and mini village.
Oh and our Aussies cousins have lost bragging rights years back lol.

In a way to me it seems like the brits took all that "humiliation" form the aussies seriously and figured they would get back at them right where it hurts hehe......have to say it was pretty well executed!
Lots of countries can learn from the UK performance this olympics.
Lets see how long this sporting renaissance lasts....could be a very long time.

Lol, the sporting rivalry between the UK and Aussie land is big brother v little brother. It's a big joke and totally harmless. I tease my cousins in AUS all the time about it.

What's happening aussies?
According to our Olympic Swim Coach, we are getting fat, lazy and Television Whore (Sorry for the W word) and our athletes rather spend time doing TV interview and Magazine Cover shoot than train hard in the pool.
We are slowly getting back into shape, but it won't happen just one day or one Olympic, you can already see some improvement in swimming and some other sport, but in the end, we will need to wait for a new generation of athletes to be competitive.

That usually is the death of an athlete. Sadly we live in an attention seeking, publicity hungry environment where people value quick bucks. Unless you are exceptional e.g. Usain Bolt, such publicity will harm an athletes career. You only need to look at one of team GB's examples i.e. the diver Tom Daley, he's a famous gay face, has books out, loves the limelight and he came last in his solo event. In the double he took bronze just about. Most of our athletes are warned to shun the spotlight, they take their training seriously.
