Riding on Make in India wave Tata Motors wants to build battle tanks

Well Tata cant develop alone. They will license produce foreign MBT. Its a way to go as a start.
That's the thing though make them the official manufacturer of equipment and slowly increase their involvement to R&D.

good developments. but the lackeys of DRDO will not be happy.

There's a lot of positioning going on by the private firms, they're clearly taking the defence sector seriously now, and India would be stupid not to leverage this.

Interested to see their concept, and who they're working with.
At this stage,I don't think TATA is capable of designing and manufacturing a full fledged MBT.

thing is R&D will remain with DRDO but production will be given to private firms like TATA , L&T & Baba Kalyani

We've finally woken up from our deep socialist slumber after wasting 65 years of poodle-faking!

I thnk the Russian strategy of having common base platforms across both the FMBT and FICV would be a good one.

What do you think will be the fate of HVF Avadi if private cos are given license to manufacture MBT.

TATA just got the license to produce MBTs. And clearly is going straight in with some sort of design, as they submitted something for that RFI. Im at awe at their balls for even doing that, btw.

But yeah, not good for Avadi. But good for Indian forces, as competition is a must and India needs competitor factories to produce armor.

I wish TATAs make Arjun MBTs,alone or along with HVF.They should be allowed to market them outside too.

We dont know if it's cheaper, but we know it only builds up other people's defence industries.

Why do you even bother? The asshole thinks battle tanks are made entirely of steel.

They're collaborating with DRDO, that's a great way to go too. Remember DRDO, L&T and Navy?

Now $1 = Rs 64.

The article I read said "Indian steel companies stare at default"

Don't worry they aren't as you are making it look do u for God sake do u know what The TATAS are worth they are the size of some countries budgets in the neighbourhood
