To be noted.
Italian Firm has been kept out of the competition. This confirms the unofficial ban on any new Defence deals with Italy for the moment.

Should edit the title to make it clear that these are for the LCA MK.1A.

Anyway, this will be an easy win for the EL/M-2052 (already ordered by HAL for the Jaguar DARIN III upgrade).

+ Deliveries of intial 24 should be commencing from 2019 (SDK from 2020 onwards, 48 from raw materials from 2021 onwards).

Why does India not get along with Italy?
There are ongoing legal proceedings and corruption charges against the company. The Government will like to keep itself clean even from speculation.

Pretty much clears MK1A arriving from 2019 end.

Further also clears atleast two MK1A prototypes would be built by HAL.

The likely offers
1.Elta Israel => EL/M 2052 Derivatives
2. Thales => RBE2 AESA Derivatives
3.Russia => Zhuk FGA 35(3D) orZhuk AM/AME
4.Raytheon => AN/APG-82[Used on F15E] or AN/APG 79 [Used on Super Hornet ]
5. SAAB has no clear AESA for offer, claims has capability to build one though.

PS:- As Northop Grumman , Selex and Euro Radar aren't included, i have not included what they might offer.

I"d go for Elta :-)

At this point it is the most logical option.

However, if I could go back an re-write history I would have had the LCA go a "French route" (weapons, sensors and systems) instead of Irsaeli as now they are locked into the EL/M-2052 (thanks to already commiting to the Python V and Derby) so as to offer more commonality in the IAF/IN, as it stands they will operate 3 different AESA radars on their fighters by 2020 (EL/M-2052 on the LCA MK.1A and Jaguar DARIN III, RBE2 on their Rafales and a Russian AESA on the upgraded MKI).In the future this will become even more complicated as the DRDO UTTAM AESA radar enters service (future LCA blocks) and the FGFA enters service with its own AESA; the AMCA might even have a different AESA radar of its own.

(no offence ;) )

Most capable one would be from Raytheon but it would be costly with strings attached.
