Hats off to the Election Commission of India. And the amazing thing about them is that no political party ever accuses them of any sort of biased behavior which not only boosts their credibility but also allows them to excel in their work without any sort of hiccups.

Seriously it's a miracle how the Election Commission organizes the voting of more than 830 million eligible voters in an organized manner without any largescale violence and bloodshed.The program is an eye opener to all those people who perceive India to be an unstable nation.

The mandate of the EC is simply mind-boggling in scale and actually makes me tired just thinking about it. This institution deserves every bit of praise it receives and much more, they do a simply superhuman job.

Without the EVMs and purely paper ballots that must have been an incredibly tedious (even more so) task even if the population was that bit smaller!!

I've had the good luck of watching EVMs in testing at ECIL Hyderabad and it is amazing how such a simple device is such a powerful tool. It almost symbolizes our vibrant democracy where even the most ordinary citizen has the power to decide fate of power politicians.
Today both ECIL and Bharat Electricals Limited (BEL) manufacture the machine.
& yes Election commission is perhaps the most respected (or feared if you are a politician) institute in country.
Long live the Democracy!

People have a right to their opinion, but i can say for sure, these machines cannot be tampered with at all.

Recently sri lanka and Afghanistan had elections, but we hear manipulation and rigging stories from there...especially Afghanistan where pakistanis on pdf proudly have been claiming that isi manipulated 2 million votes in favor of ghani.

Even bangladeshi and pakistani elections aren't bereft of rigging and manipulation stories..

It's a sort of miracle of how no one has accused the world's largest election of rigging or manipulation.

Imagine doing this across such diverse environments as mountains and deserts, sea coasts islands dense jungles, marshes rivers and with very difficult routes, uses elephants as transport in some places, documents for such huge population and doing it in a manner whole world accepts as free and fair while facing threats from jihadis maoists and other separatists.

Respect and nothing else. One name that is always remembered with this is TN Seshan. Brilliant that guy was.

Democracy (which continued for over 6 decades!!!) and our constitution are certainly among the biggest achievements of India in which every citizen played its part!
