Yep, to replace the old Golf. Mainly for testing ballistic missiles although some people mentioned that China was thinking of a sea launched version of its ASBM. It's probably going to be a 1 or 2 boat class and that's it.

The Type 092 can do that, so it will be the Type 094 in the future when the Type 096 is in large number.

If I am correct then one doesn't need SSGN at all. ssn and ssbn do perform the roles which are specified for SSGNs in Russian doctrine. Thank you.

That may depend on storage and reloading capability. I believe less no of platforms you have more effectively you can deploy them according to your needs. It may vary from country to country but not much. Thank you.
