There are few things to note that are very similar to today's US-Pakistan relation.
Like the Americans saying the same thing before as today that Pakistan will de-stabilize due to collapse of economy and nukes can go into wrong hands.

it shows why we did it, today we would have been shaming ourselves had it not happened, as like the G8 back than who refused to pressurize india, USA would have done the same in couple of years later as it did..
